I would like to enjoy things like this but now all I do is cringe.

At least in games where he comes in with a two or especially three run lead, why not throttle it back a little bit and see if he can get outs taking a little bit off perhaps with even sharper command? If he gets in trouble, go ahead and air it out, if not he might be able to pitch entire innings without throwing a single max effort fastball or slider.

Over the course of a season that can really add up in terms of pitches he no longer throws at max effort. Not only does it keep him fresher but you could very will be saving his arm health. Especially in the year in which you're not competing anyway, now's the perfect time for him to try to throttle it back and see what the results look like. Even if he gives up another four or five runs over the course of a season who cares? You got to start thinking bigger picture with guys like this.

Because arbitration calculations won't consider if it was a max effort situation or not would be one reason I'd guess.

For those who are too cheap and/or who don't want to deal with MLB.tv BS, that site first posted by Spanky a few years back is up and running again

DM for details

Last year it was a pain to deal with. This year it works swimmingly. So if you don't mind a minute or so delay to real time and don't mind increasing your risk of computer AIDS, this site is for you.

Grayson hits the IL, 15 days, shoulder inflammation

And there it is, the Manoah arc is complete except without the dominant second year.

Heard that Bradish's velocity was way down in his last rehab start

O's are activating him anyway

Rod Black calling Tyler’s second hit:

Lolllllll legendary

What did the Braves hitting coach do to Acuna? Pool noodle bat that's now striking out almost 28% of the time? Why would they change what he was doing? Crazy.

Interesting prospect. Looks like Tyler Black is a 1st base/DH who's hit at every level he's played. But he also stole 55 bases last year. I'm not sure I've ever seen a 1st/DH player who could run that much. Jeff Bagwell stole 30 bases a couple of times and Goldy used to run a bit. It will be interesting to see what Black becomes and if he does indeed run at the ML level. You have to think at some point he'll move to the corner OF if he can run that well.

I know you think you’re clever, but it just comes off as homer ignorant. There’s a difference between a bad stretch and a clear pattern of underperformance. I’m not one of the guys blaming the hitting coach, but this is a dumb comment. Par for the course, but still wanted to point it out. You’re trying too hard here

I absolutely am one of the ones blaming the hitting coach when it comes specifically to Vlad's underperformance. When you see the pattern of underperformance over the past few years it's clear that either the message is wrong or the message is being delivered wrong. Both of those things are the direct responsibility of the hitting coach.

Stop telling Vlad he needs to think "up the middle and the other way" and start telling him to look for a fastball and murder it into the stands.

I thought the same thing, should be able to play LF or whatever instead of 1B. That’s a death sentence unless you absolutely mash

Walker Buehler is back on the mound for the Dodgers tonight. I think it's been 20 months or something crazy since he last pitched. He's electric when healthy. Will be interesting to see if he picks up where he left off or not. Minor league numbers this year weren't great FIP/xFIP both over 5. Dodgers think he's ready though, so we'll see how it goes.

He is just bad everywhere for some combination of bad footwork or throwing. They've tried him at every position, 2B 3B CF...

Sort of seems like the 1B thing is just short term since the Brewers depth chart is weakest there. They've been giving Jake Bauers 1B reps and Gary Sanchez DH reps. Definitely see them just throwing him in LF when it opens up.

god damn the Brewers developmental system has become elite

Generally speaking when a prospect is listed as a 1B/DH but they aren't an obese stiff they just have bricks for hands and have horrendous defensive instincts. Think Michael Busch, Addison Barger most recently, etc. Black "looks like an athlete" but likely looks lost out there at a position.

It says he’s coming back for Monday

Dodgers aren't even playing today

No matter, it's great to see Buehler back and he is listed as SP for the game on Monday

I may wait 1 start to activate him. But Miami sucks so maybe I should have him in the lineup for Monday. Choices…

You're trying way too hard man. Give it a break.

I love how you always use the Braves in your ridiculous examples.

I don’t want to be seen as agreeing with d-bag Brownie, but I guess I kind of am. Listen, these are grown men, mega millionaires in the case of say George Springer. They’re going to listen to the guy for a little bit and then when they’re still doing s*****, they’re going to be like “f*** this guy, he doesn’t know s***”
