Eric Nadel's radio call of the final out. Apparently he's been the radio broadcaster for the Rangers since 1979. Super happy for this guy. I can only imagine how special this is for him. At 72 years old, I'm sure he was worried he'd never see the Rangers win the WS.

Good for him to finally call the WS win. I also like that the first and only comment is racist.

It’a mostly the nerds that have any issues with how playoffs end.

This is sports starting at 8u. There’s tournaments, nobody cares who the #1 seed was to start. The winner is who wins. Stays like that through HS, College, and the pros. No #1 seed thinks they’re the real winner. They regret not playing better when it mattered.

The teams like the Dodgers that lost, own it and look to make changes ahead of the next season.

Leave it to the sensitive types that want to make sure every race, gender, and sexual orientation has a character in a movie. Everyone gets a trophy culture

To all the nerds, I only have one thing to say

No sense of humor. They erased me?

You guys know I’m just having fun with it. I’m eating at the same nerd table as you guys nowadays

wait, lmao

connorp is so dumb he made a point that is the exact opposite of his argument

the nerds in our weeks-long discussion are asking for more of a meritocracy! lmao

you are the guys who want the underprivileged teams to get a chance and then when they get lucky and win you want us all to pretend they are great and just as good and cool and worthy as the strong teams

lmfao lmfao lmfao

The last line was what got you. You're usually much better at toeing the line.

Feel the exact same way

Agreed. The rule changes were amazing, but the actual season felt like a chore. I guess that’s clouded by being a Jays fan but even the playoffs aside from a handful of games were a bore.

Oh well, on to the off season and hopefully a better 2024 season. Ohtani, Soto trade, etc. Let’s get the stove heating up.

The sad thing is, that this will probably be the minimum the jays need to do just to make the playoffs next year and most likely something they can not pull off.

I think he’s saying that those will be big stories to follow throughout the offseason, not Jays related

Ya it was one of the worst seasons I can ever remember following tbh. Just boring. Like Dick said imagine this year without the pitch clock - woof!

It kind of seems like the only cool thing to follow in MLB this year was Acuna's season. And even then the SB total has this little asterisk beside it because of the rule changes.

No pitcher had an "all time" season.

The best player in baseball suffered a major injury.

The best living legend in baseball barely played.

Sandy Alcantara and Shane McClanahan both died.

Wander Franco uhhhhhhhh did something.

A few star young players like Vlad, Tatis Jr., Oneil Cruz, Eloy Jimenez, etc. had really bad years.

Aside from the rules changes, Ohtani was definitely the biggest story until he got hurt. That didn’t help.

But I think the season was fine. Acuna and the Braves, Elly De La Cruz, the amazing Diamondbacks lineup electrified crowds all year, etc. I’m going to count the WBC actually being good this year too.

Elly De La Cruz had an 84 wRC+

I would’ve sold my shares the day he debuted. Value was never higher

He’s a physical freak who put up 1.7 WAR as a 21 year old. His stock is trending up not down.

Yeah Elly De La Cruz really fell off. Him being a bit of a mirage was one of the reasons the season sucked, haha.

New Superstar!? Nope.

I don't know man, Gunnar Henderson and Corbin Carroll say Hi.

Carroll was arguably the second best story of 2023

Henderson is awesome but he hit .255 with 28 homers and 82 RBI. Pretty f***ing boring from an entertainment standpoint.

Well, young superstars are what they'll be yeah curmudgeon, 2nd best WAR tandem in 123 years only to Bryant and Correa in '15. Lots to look forward to from the young guys.

I dunno man. If some slow-twitch SS/3B debuting to hit .255 for the Baltimore Orioles makes you excited, good for you.

Fully agree with this. This was not a good year to grow baseball's brand. Still does not help that arguably the game's two biggest stars/generational talents remain anchored to a terribly run organization and perpetually mediocre team.

Bobby Witt Jr. swung his big fat cock around in the 2nd half. 138 wRC+ on his way to a 30 hr, 49 sb, 5.7 WAR season. I think he's right up there with Carroll, Acuna, Julio and Adley as the new young superstars of baseball.

Betts, Freeman and Olson were some old vets who had big seasons.

That said - the big thing this year was undoubtedly the rule changes. MLB hit a home run with them. The return of SB's to baseball was amazing, as was the pitch clock. Just like the takeout slide, those were against the new rules seemingly disappeared and were never heard of again after the first month. Was there even a violation in the playoffs? I don't think so and I don't recall one single moment where the 15 or 20 second clock stole the moment away from fans (or any of that s*** people thought would happen).
