Not the case. I wouldn’t have bet AZ against LAD or Philly. Just because I think they have pieces needed for a run, doesn’t mean the teams they’re playing don’t too.

Anyways, you guys are so close-minded, you can’t even consider basic concepts like depth is less important to a playoff roster, than a regular season roster. So what’s the point in diving deeper than that.

It’s all random chance. Get rid of saber. Let’s gets back to avg and rbi

Just say "it makes zero sense to me" and the playoffs are random. You can do it!

I prefer to be like the guy on Fantrax that had some curiosities and decided to research them. Except for the part of doing the work that it requires.

Except that's not what you do. I have no issue with you exploring some new/different ideas. Wondering if there's a way to construct a team built to win in the playoffs and if that would look different than a team built to win in the regular season. That's a good thought - I'm curious about that also.

But you then admittedly aren't willing or able to do the research to prove anything at all (neither am I) - but you don't say that, you start claiming that certain teams have done this and suggest you know the formula (while suggesting the Jays are way off on that formula). Then when anyone questions your claims, you get your back up and make more s*** up.

Please just stop. Accept you really have no idea what the answer is. There's nothing wrong with that. You can be curious and ask some 'out of the box' questions to see if anyone knows - or to create some discussion, but stop pretending like you know the answers.

I had to fight with you guys trying to argue about a suppressed offensive environment. You were all obtuse and defiant to that point, until I found the Fantrax article to back it up.

One day, I’m going to take the time to dive into some of my theories.

People have known there were fewer runs in the playoffs since like 1995

I don't think you had to fight at all. That's a pretty simple concept that almost everyone on here would understand. Unfortunately, I think the fight you have is with your ability to articulate your thoughts.

Specifically the drastic drop in wRC+. What I’d like to prove is the good hitters regress negatively at a lesser rate than average, or below average hitters. This would help explain why a lineup like the Jays is bound to perform worse in a playoff environment than a offense that’s top heavy

I don’t know how to navigate the board like Spanky to pull receipts

Dbacks are complete s*** and we're so much better and more worthy and more special except for the fact the Dbacks have 3 position players better than anyone we had this year

It's almost like teams aren't using their worst pitchers in the playoffs! How often do we see a number 5 starter or the back of the pen guys.

You mean like Alek Thomas and Geraldo Perdomo right?

It’s actually funny how you guys are mocking, yet you’re not able to make the leap to say that regular season wins wouldn’t be the best way to determine who the better team for a playoff series is, considering you’ll hardly ever see 40% of the SPs

Actually the unsung heroes are Ginkel and Sewald, this whole postseason really.

If there’s one takeaway Philly can make about how they got beat, it’s that Kimbrel f***ed them

I get that you're joking here but still Perdomo is like a top 3 blue jay lol. The Dbacks are just not as bad as everyone thinks.

I can't really see why you think they are "better" than their 162 game run differential would demonstrate, but alrighty then.

Nobody here is MAD that the Diamondbacks are in the World Series. It's fun to see high variance youngsters like Brandon Pfaadt perform in the playoffs. It's fun to see journeyman relievers find their stuff and shove for a couple of weeks.

People just take objection to all the corollary arguments. The Diamondbacks succeeding is not a conclusion to the Moreno/Varsho trade evaluation. The 2023 Diamondbacks are not a lesson in playoff roster construction that nerds should pay attention to.

The MIL and TOR teams don’t even have a punchers chance.

I really just loathe that they made the WS because of all the articles that will be printed over the offseason complaining about Varsho/Moreno.

Even last night on Sportsnet Ken Reid was getting nippy/snarky about it.

Just let it go jesus

I never said any or that. I'm just not surprised a team with legitimately good players happened to win games. I'm sure much worse teams have made it this far

People were actually surprised they nuked a semi retired Kershaw. I get over 162 they threw alot of scrubs out there but when you actually lined them up against who they faced, they weren't that far behind.

Carroll is a superstar and Marte is a top 20 ish hitter over the last 5 years. They have like 30 hits this postseason but they're not like David Freese or something

Who is saying any of this?

I still don't get your point. You popped in to make fun of people who are comparing the Blue Jays and them.

Nobody is "shocked" that the Diamondbacks are rolling. It's the baseball playoffs. It's very [insert forbidden R word here]

All I’m suggesting is your better come armed to the playoffs with 3-4 high end bats, a strong 3 man rotation, and 3-4 strong RPs. If not, like the Jays or MiL, you aren’t winning s***.

Obviously you can have that, and so can the other teams, something has to give. Someone isn’t going to play well etc

There will always be some noise with some hits here and there from “others”
