jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Author Posted October 12, 2023 Lance Lynn 4 dingers in the 3rd inning? I thought Lance Lynn was elite.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Author Posted October 12, 2023 (edited) Jays win 89 games in the toughest division in baseball with a plus 75 RD. "They were actually bad other than a dominant rotation, bullpen and fielding because the offense was bad." The D-Bags win 84 games with a -15 RD while scoring the same amount of runs as us despite playing in one of the best offensive environments. "They are actually good because they have an exciting core and two good pitchers." No team remains from the toughest division in baseball. Yes the Jays lineup was awful other than Bo and maybe Belt/KK who were platoon guys mostly. Wasn't the Rogers Centre supposed to be one of the best offensive environments? Go back and look at my posts from even earlier this season about what I said about the D'Backs. They were my sleeper team this year. I don't think they make it out of the CS but we'll see. Again I'm always tarred and feathered by you no matter what I say. You keep attacking me for some reason. Brownie loves these attacks on me as well. Edited October 12, 2023 by jaysblue
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Harper's home run to deep centre was bloody majestic.
philly30 Verified Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Watching the Dbacks run makes me so sad. Don't worry the Phillies or Braves will take care of them
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 You get obsessed about season wins and seemingly disregard trends coming into the playoffs. Like Matt Chapman is supposedly a 4 win player and really going into the series, he’s a liability. Someone like Moreno is on the other side of the spectrum Nah I actually think you guys are the ones ignoring trends. The Diamondbacks went 32-39 in the second half of the season. They played better in Sept but they certainly weren't world beaters and they lost their last 4 games in a row heading into the playoffs. All I'm saying is that if you get in you can win it all. Start the right trend at the right time and all you have to do as a WC team is go 13-9. Almost every team in the league has a stretch like that at some point. Mookie Betts and Freddie Freeman almost out-WAR the entire D-Bags starting lineup by themselves. Add in Will Smith, James Outman and the rest of them and it isn't even close. Yeah yeah, the Dodgers had some issues but they are still miles better and none of you guys picked the D-Bags to make it this far before the playoffs started. But now that it's happened you try to explain why the Jays suck and why the D-Bags are actually good because you don't want to acknowledge that I'm right in that streaks/trends can start at exactly the right time and that any team that gets in can make it far if they get some good luck. Instead, you'll point to ******** like "oh the Jays offense is bad" (we scored as many runs as the D-Bags and project to be the better offensive team), "oh they have a young exciting core" (what does that even matter lmao) or "they have two good pitchers" (and we don't?).
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Goalie masks are fugly. They look like s***, but they have better protection than the cap and mask.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 ...and they don't move around if you get hit

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I thought Lance Lynn was elite. ^He's so addicted to creating strawmen that he just throws out these random sarcastic jabs into the void. Literally no one has said that Lance Lynn is elite. This is either a very good troll job or we are witnessing an autist's downward mental health spiral in real time.

Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Betts and Freeman are so bad. Playoff chokers, keep them away from the Jays.
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 "I don't care if we eat half the contract. Mookie needs to be traded. That contract will be an absolute albatross in 3 years. f***, it already is considering he becomes 2023 Austin Barnes come Oct." Example of a typical Dodgers reddit post right now. The entire forum wants to trade Mookie because he's not a playoff player. Reminds me of BJMB

Reminds me of BJMB The Orioles Hangout people were complaining about Adley Rutschman. Words like, overrated, choker, etc. It's the same all over.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 A couple of days ago, Brownie was wondering if Dodger fans complain like Jays fans despite their better results. He was roasted by the board idiots (or at least they tried roasting him) for daring to make a comparison between the Dodgers and Jays but in fact he was right. Apparently Dodger fans do whine like Jays fans. They are probably even worse.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 And that's a wrap. Massive failure by the Dodgers. Friedman has got to go.

I’ll take him if they wanna do a Vlad for Mookie swap!

I’ll probably be tarred and feathered for this take but IMO Friedman should get some more rope. Dodgers were very very unlucky with all the injuries to SP this year. Next year with a healthy rotation and Ohtani they should probably crack 110 wins
BTS Community Moderator Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 I think baseball fans are going to have to adjust to the fact that this kind of thing is going to happen more often, and WS or bust is an increasingly unrealistic bar to judge a GM by. The playoffs are now a 12-team tournament that's going to do a much worse job determining the best team in the league than all previous incarnations with fewer teams making it out of the regular season. The cost of the all-important TV revenues for WC games is more randomness in deciding a WS winner. And it will only get worse when Manfred inevitably expands it to 16 teams.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Mookie Betts is overrated. .710 career OPS in the playoffs. And no his Mickey Mouse ring doesn't count. 2018 one does. But still he was shut down in the playoffs again. Easy work for Diamondbacks pitching.

Im honestly fine with that. Makes things more exciting for the underdogs/smaller fanbases. It just f***ing stinks that we got swept 2 years in a row.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted October 12, 2023 Posted October 12, 2023 Maybe change the division series to seven games, why not. We could have a WS Champion crowned by halloween.

It just f***ing stinks that we got swept 2 years in a row. I like it as well but it is a problem. Though I'm not sure MLB even considers it a problem. 88-89 wins is one thing, but 84 wins isn't even a good season. It would never happen but having a 90-win cutoff would be a good idea. Take the top 6 teams so long as they have 90 wins. If only 4 teams have 90 wins then only 4 make it. I'm sure there are a million issues with that so please don't attack. Also, I'd also like to see them just go to AL and NL. No need for the divisions anymore with balanced schedules. And then make a bigger deal for the top teams with the winners being crowned the AL Pennant Winner and the NL Pennant Winner and they get to have a little ceremony and hang their banner.
