jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Creed kinda could pull off Brian Cashman
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Interesting read. Could probably create a TV sitcom or soap opera of all the drama during the Gord Ash era in Toronto haha. https://www.nytimes.com/athletic/1794224/2020/05/22/blue-jays-historical-performance-review-grading-former-gm-gord-ash/
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 Michael Scott from the Office kinda looks like AA haha. Looks more like Kevin Malone with hair
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 And he wont get the gold glove lol
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 24, 2024 Posted October 24, 2024 And he wont get the gold glove lol And that would be a travesty, he should be in the discussion of a Platinum Glove Award, with Gimenez etc.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 And that would be a travesty, he should be in the discussion of a Platinum Glove Award, with Gimenez etc. Oh I agree, im just like 90% certain he won’t be getting the GG over Duran… mostly because the voters will look at the dWAR totals for each dude in CF and be like yup, easy win for Duran. Varsho should be winning the GG for utility IMO but isn’t even eligible there… for reasons.

At the very least he should win the LF Gold Glove.
Ryu In My House Verified Member Posted October 25, 2024 Author Posted October 25, 2024 Am I the only one who when they see memes of Dwight from the Office thinks he looks like Ross Atkins? Holy, now that you've said that he really does. Nice!
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 Uhmm... Varsho leads the entire league in dWAR at all positions? At the very least he should win the LF Gold Glove. I don’t believe he played enough innings in left field to qualify.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 I hope Varsho gets stiffed in GG voting It'll lower his arb cost, thus allowing Big Ross another mil or two to use on 35 year old reliever who will give us a very mediocre 60 innings of ball
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2024 Posted October 25, 2024 I don’t believe he played enough innings in left field to qualify. Made me look, yup... All infielders and outfielders with at least 698 total innings played qualify at the specific position where he played the most innings (i.e. where his manager utilized him the most) That's really stupid, lol.

BTS Community Moderator Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 Player Valuation Research Analyst It's interesting that this is an actual job title. I would have guessed this would just be a subset of work done by data analysts.

Laika Community Moderator Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 The jobs a year ago were all entry level positions, it was right in the ad. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/instagraphs/job-posting-toronto-blue-jays-multiple-entry-level-opportunities/ All of these new postings seem to be senior or mid-level.

Look at the posting for Biomechanist
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted November 5, 2024 Posted November 5, 2024 I wonder if they lost people? don't think the pay is that great and aynone with this knowledge / experience can make much more in other industries especially the purely technical positions

They pay knowing many folks want to be part of the organization. Sucks because it would have been a dream.

Find a LF and the lineup would look good. That said, the 7 years would have me scared shitless. -Similar with Hoffman as it seems like a year too long but otherwise he'd be a nice addition. -Joc at that price is fine with me. -Conforto at that price would be a good signing. I'd pass on everyone else.
