Very close to matching surplus value. 55.1 surplus value for Bo vs 52.6 for Walker.

That’s the alpha move. Not this Player A + + + other pieces

Cardinals would still have to add for Atkins to accept. Again, Atkins almost always gains between 5-10 surplus value on every trade he makes, while this 1 for 1 swap has the Jays losing a slight amount of surplus value.

If the Cards added Edman (9.6 surplus value) to Walker that would be closer to realistic for Bo.

I’d just like to see them get a potential star coming back, and not this “sneaky superstar ++” Varsho kind of thing

I’d assume Walker value prob takes a huge hit in any projection not being at 3b. Not sure how they would formulate it and if his terrible fielding in the OF factored in

You really think platinum glove level CFs grow on trees?

It would be shocking to see the Cards trade Walker for Bo. Hyper-aggressive and short-sighted.

They've done something similar before for Goldschmidt, but it was much more muted. Weaver and Kelly were top 10 internal prospects who had not became MLB stars in a few chances. Walker is a former top 5 MLB prospect with one mediocre season.

I would love it but Cards would probably never do it.

Good idea though, Connor.

It’s not even a lock he’s playing CF next year lol

It's not Varsho's fault Atkins constructed the roster last year with 3 CFs patrolling their OF everyday. Also I 99% guarantee Varsho is at least the starting CF vs RHP starting in 2024 and moving forward, if not the outright everyday CF.

Arenado is the larger possibility

I mean, having NA is why I think they be interested in Bo, Bo could be an extension candidate too. They’re wasting a couple of Arenado years. They should maybe just deal him then to reset a window.

Speaking of Goldschmidt, that would be nice bat to fit in the lineup. Obviously LHB is preferred but he's got power and might be available.

I've mentioned his name a couple of week ago. He would be a perfect fit in this lineup if the Cardinals were selling. Only one-year left at $25M I think, so no long term risk at all and wouldn't cost as much as someone like Juan Soto.

Do you think he’d be a better fit than Joey Votto??

Not even close... Votto drinks Molson and loves Maple syrup. Get that man on the team lol

Votto is still my No. 1 choice since he's Canadian, a former MVP and would sell a lot of Blue Jays jerseys. Rogers could definitely market him better and since we all care about how Shapiro operates the team from a business perspective and prints money, Votto is easily the guy. Josh Donaldson would be a close second IMO, and you know I'm a big Austin Meadows fan.

Goldschmidt and Arenado plus cash for Tiedemann. That would make me wince hard but I can see this FO doing it if they decided to go all the f*** in for 2024.

How does Yamamoto rank in comparison to other first year players like Langford or Skenes? I have the 3rd overall pick so I'll be able to get one of them. Is Yamamoto worth trying to trade up by giving up my 1st and 2nd pick (there's usually not a top tier pick available in the 2nd round) or does he project similarly to the other top first year players?

Well, huge gap between Yamamoto/Langford and Skenes. If those are truly the top 3 and you can trade up a spot to ensure you get Yamamoto or Langford you should definitely do it

Signing Yamamoto would make trading Tiedemann in a package for a bat much more palatable. For Soto perhaps?

Might make signing in TO more of a realistic option for Ohtani too maybe? Corner the market on Japanese stars...

Skenes isn’t in the same class as those two. Langford and Yamamoto are the clear first and second picks, after that sort of a toss up with Crews, Skenes, that SS from Minnesota and a couple others

When I pointed out this exact same type of post previously I'm accused of "twisting your words" somehow, yet here we are again. Instead of acquiring Goldschmidt who is still a very productive player, you'd rather sign the team go dumpster diving and sign washed up guys, one of which is suffering from some extreme anxiety that he's barely been able to step onto a major league field for several seasons and his last and only season as a good player was in 2019.

You simply can't deny you've been stanning hard for all 3 guys so it's not exactly easy to tell you are joking there.
