I don't think Willie's parents even believe in him anymore man. Unfortunately, he's a failed prospect. He may catch on with some bottom feeding team that needs warm bodies, but without some major swing change - his MLB days are likely nearing the end.

There's an interesting name. Completely fell off a cliff after some incredible seasons in 2020 and 2021. I believe he's a dick and a bad teammate and is probably a DH only guy now. Has he worked his way out of baseball?

He has chronic and serious spinal issues. I don't think he's going to get back to normal. It wasn't just a string of bad luck and some soft tissue injuries...

 

More like end of career Prince Fielder s***.

The guy who created ZiPS thinks (rightfully IMO) that Vlad Jr should be a full time DH moving forward. Yes he's that bad defensively at 1B now.

Toronto is almost certainly trying to hedge Vlad defensively at 1B. Need to have someone on the roster who can at least play half the games there. The Belt situation was not ideal given his age.

 

Hoskins, Urshela, Gallo, Turner.... are some of the younger possibilities in the 1B bucket. Urshela would be a 3B/1B and might be a nice roster fit. Turner the same but a better player.

Gallo is probably a plus 1B and might still be a passable OF. He would be a really interest bat to have in a platoon role, lmao.

 

Carlos Santana is old but he graded out as an okay defender at 1B recently.

Tellez and Cooper would go with Santana and probably Gallo in the "end of the offseason dumpster diving" category. But some appeal there if Toronto is desparate.

Ji Mac Choi might be an MiLB candidate and he is a ninja defender isn't he?

Jurickson Profar sucks but can play all over and should be free.

Kirk’s projections were super aggressive even last year. I think he was projected for like 120ish wRC+. Obviously he fell short by a wide margin.

 

Who really knows what his bat looks like going forward

Doesn't Spencer project better than most of those guys? No idea what his defense is like and I guess he can't play any other positions.

What’s that nerd trade calculator that you guys use say about Bo vs Jordan Walker?

 

Very close to matching surplus value. 55.1 surplus value for Bo vs 52.6 for Walker.
