glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 The Jays barely beating the worst teams in baseball, and frustrating the hell out of all of us, but will sit half a game out of a playoff spot after today.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 They want some payback because we gave them nothing for Donaldson and Chapman. You're right they should be mad about that. Those were 2 absolutely terrible trades for Oakland.

Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Its a lottery now anyways Oh yea I forgot they changed that. Does it work the same as the NBA where last place has best odds?
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 The Jays barely beating the worst teams in baseball, and frustrating the hell out of all of us, but will sit half a game out of a playoff spot after today. As the ol saying goes. A win is a win is a win.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Jesus Christ nail biter vs bottom dwellers The A's have beat the O's, Braves, Rays, Astros, Rangers, and Mariners this season.. It's weird how dudes think they are an auto win
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Biggio MVP today Shermanator should update his thread.
travisinfla Verified Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 The rookies are the heart of the team.
Nursehoneybadger Verified Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 I was laughing at them because why are they trying to win lol. You would think they want first overall. It feels good to beat the better teams and be the spoiler. They also want to help their stats for future contracts. I don't think any player would ever not try to win. Being lazy and complacent is different but there's big money on the line.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 noodle arm Biggio turned that really nicely He made some great plays today honestly
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Oh yea I forgot they changed that. Does it work the same as the NBA where last place has best odds? Bottom 3 teams all have the same odds for the top 3 picks, then the odds decrease from there
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Depressing to see that ballpark near empty. Going to be terrible outcome for a storied franchise.
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 He made some great plays today honestly Players can improve - not sure if he can every be a starter but the important thing is he's delivering

Yeah. That’s all that matters. A Win is a Win. Biggio and Berrios Killer Bees today. Some clutch RBIs from Springer and Horwitz. Love that swing driving pitch away to LF from LHP. Well done Jays!!
bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Author Posted September 4, 2023 Going to need a big game from Bassitt and or the offense tomorrow, pen is down bad right now. Green Mayza Richards probably the only ones 100%
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Biggio reminds me a little of David Freese - average all around, late bloomer 2nd half Biggio OBP .400!!
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Another fantastic day in the standings f*** yes
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Biggio reminds me a little of David Freese - average all around, late bloomer 2nd half Biggio OBP .400!! Dude was a 3 WAR player in 2019 and had a 122 wRC+ in 2020. The League adjusted. Maybe just maybe he is figuring it out again. What a huge play at 3B.

Maybe just maybe he is figuring it out again. What a huge play at 3B. Yea those numbers really stand out. Just not seeing too many Jays improving from season to season wtf are they doing in the off season? if he can improve that arm just a bit it can work at 3B as long as the bat holds. I'm sure Atkins is thinking about starting him in 2024 - if they do I'd rather see him at 3B than 2B (it's probably Schneiders to lose) - even though he turned the dp nicely today I don't think his range is good. His weaknesses won't be noticed as much at 3B. and keep him out of the outfield
travisinfla Verified Member Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Over the last 7 games, Espinal is batting .571 with 8 hits and 5 RBI's in 14 at bats. Biggio is batting .211 with 4 hits and 3 RBI's in 19 at bats. Espinal is the player of the week.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Over the last 7 games, Espinal is batting .571 with 8 hits and 5 RBI's. Biggio is batting .211 with 3 RBI's over 19 AB's. There both role players leave it that. Neither guy is everyday player caliber on a playoff team, but both guys are valuable bench pieces even though Espinal’s D seems like it’s fallen off a cliff

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 Was an ugly win, but will take it. A win is a win. Need to sweep Oakland and great to see Texas getting crushed! Lets go!
travisinfla Verified Member Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 (edited) Neither guy is everyday player caliber on a playoff team, but both guys are valuable bench pieces even though Espinal’s D seems like it’s fallen off a cliff I agree with that, but I've never seen a player given so many opportunities to redeem himself over the past 3 years despite awful stats, whereas Espinal would be toast if he had a 2021 or 2022 like Biggio did. Espinal was an all-star in 2022. He has better hands in general. He bulked up which may have affected his defense but he's not awful. Awful was Biggio playing 3rd in 2021, and his hitting the past 3 years. I suppose the past doesn't matter at this point and im just happy there doing well. I don't think anyone should be going gaga because he made a few good plays at 3rd over 2-3 games and his hitting is still below average. Next season, neither of them should be considered as a permanent replacement at any position, at least not on a contending team. They'll need to find a permanent replacement for Chapman outside of the organization or use an internal option that can hit with ok defense at 3rd Edited September 5, 2023 by travisinfla

Springer and Cavan in the 5th, the defensive play of the game for Biggio, the 10th with Espy, Cavan and Horwitz, have a day 8! ETA: Berrios needs more rope than that, egregious. These decisions are purely on our analytics team and JS' the puppet. Edited September 5, 2023 by Spanky99

max silver Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 You forgot Yimi Garcia. He's one of the best relievers on the team! If you only count what the pen has done since they arrived in Colorado (which you seem to be doing with Yimi) then you might not think the team has any good relievers.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted September 5, 2023 Posted September 5, 2023 You forgot Yimi Garcia. He's one of the best relievers on the team! Out of all our RP's this year, Yimi is: 2nd in xFIP 5th in FIP (including Genesis) 3rd in K/9 3rd in BB/9 (including Genesis and Bowden) 2nd in IP 2nd in SIERA 2nd in avg EV (behind Jay Jackson) 2nd in HardHit% 3rd in Stuff+ 5th in Pitching+ 3rd in holds Can't seem to find the inherited runners stranded stat, but we know he has a ton of those too (and a high % of stranding them). I understand some recent frustration, but are people ripping Yimi based off his ERA? What year is it? Prepare to see Yimi in a lot more games this year, including the playoffs if we make it.
