Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Catcher pop times Moreno is 10th overall, Kirk in the 40's, Jansen 50's and Moreno leads the majors in throwouts Kirk doesn't even get up half of the time because he's a fat ass. Ends up soft tossing the ball
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Yes that's true but both Kirk and Jansen are near the bottom of the league in pop time Kirks is 1.98, Jansen 1.99 Best pop time is 1.83 (realmuto). Moreno is 1.9 People are kidding themselves if they think that .09 and .08 seconds from the catcher is the main factor in a stolen base. Ffs the data is right there for people it just takes a few seconds to look up and an iota of common sense. The pop time difference between 7th and 60th is 0.09 seconds. Pop time is virtually the same through the entire league.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Biggio has looked great after the first few months!

We all see the same thing and don't consider Kirk close to being good at throwing guys out
travisinfla Verified Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 2024 3B. Biggio hell no
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Biggio had that stolen too

Pop time is virtually the same through the entire league. The video review that takes 5 mins to check if a runner is out or safe at 2B - is exactly that difference. It makes a difference - everything makes a difference, pitcher slide step combined with catcher pop time combined with catcher throwing. It adds up. Catcher pop time is an important scouting grade for catchers

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 he has a better pop time than Jansen I'm saying he doesn't even get up half of the time and ends up just throwing from the crouching spot. Going to guess that helps his "pop up" time. Regardless, his accuracy and arm strength aren't good enough to offset this.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Oakland really lmao. Don't you want a top pick.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 That was not lodged. s*** call.

He definitely needs to get in shape, I'm sure the Jays left him alone after his silver slugger season, same what they did with Manoah and now they're paying for it
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Bro that challenge. I'm f***ing weak.
BlueBaller Verified Member Posted September 4, 2023 Posted September 4, 2023 Almost like hes a quality extra player. Definitely has been today. Very on the ball. That fake at third on the pickoff almost baited the runner.

Catcher pop time is an important scouting grade for catchers Sure, it’s a factor, it’s just not THE factor that people think it is. Pitcher delivery times vary far more than catcher pop times do.
