So that is two out of three games for Manoah with competent starts. Could the worm be turning?

If he can pitch well enough to tag along with Ryu in a 6 man rotation that's good news

We only need Gausman, Berrios and Bassitt in a WC series

In a 7 game series I'd pick one of the lefties (Ryu or Kikuchi) to go along with them

Manoah would have to do something pretty amazing the rest of the way to even consider giving him post season starts

Promising signs but I just don't think he can be trusted down the stretch. Ryu likely takes his spot and never looks back.

Im thinking they go 6 man rotation for a couple weeks and then drop Manoah back to AAA. Or Bullpen maybe…

Thats a best case scenario bud. Dont forget how bad Ryu was for a year before he went down. Almost unpitchable at times.

It's also possible Ryu was already hurt and was pitching through it before he ultimately f***ed it for good. He's healthy and in the best shape hes been in a long time. We know good he can be.

He's also a pending Free Agent so he has incentive to pitch well to get paid in the off-season and guarantee himself a Starting job.

Probably because his elbow was mush?? I don’t think he’ll be as bad but he’ll probably look similar to how he did in 2021

Yeah, I concur with this line of thinking. I'd love for Ryu to be so effective that he makes the decision hard for the Jays.

You never know what a little confidence can do. If Manoah gets his mojo back we're golden.

Its possible he was hurting. We are about to find out what Ryu we get. I didnt think he would ever throw another pitch for us, so anything of value is gravy. Soft tossers make me ner-vous. They have to be so fine. When it was over for Mark Burlhe it was over big time.

I am sure Manoah will get one more start atleast. Before they make the decision on whether or not they go with a 6-man rotation or just ride with 5. It only works if they are all pitching well.

Taking starts away from Berrios and Gausman doesn't sound exciting to me though. I want those guys pitching as often as possible.

And we can send Manoah down multiple more times if we want like during a week with off days or something

If Ryu is decent we can do whatever we want with Manoah the rest of the year that's best for his long term productivity and not have to pitch him in the bigs unless he's succeeding

It makes the most sense to keep Manoah as depth in AAA or Kikuchi to the Bullpen. Only 2 moves that make sense. But Kikuchi doesn't deserve to lose his job to Manoah. And Kikuchi's last outing was the best I have seen him pitch for the Blue Jays.

Agreed

Kikuchi is a lock in the rotation for the regular season. I'd roster him in the post season too as starter or reliever.

As long as Ryu can come back and keep his 4-seem a tick over 90 he should be pretty effective I think. He maxed right around 90 in his last rehab start.

Also a big bonus that him and Manoah seem to really get a long well. They can support each other.

Manoah I just don't really see as an asset out of then pen

Kikuchi absolutely could be. Hes the best option and probably will be in the post season provided we get there.

You don't need 5 starters in the playoffs but he would also be likely to start over Manoah.

Lots of decisions need to be made.

Everyone will anxiously see what Ryu and Manoah do the rest of the season

Manoah lots of hard contact, 4 walks and a hit batter. Yet only 3 runs allowed and seemingly a pretty solid outing. Im not convinced he didn't get lucky today.

All in all though great win happy to see us avoid the sweep, especially with the Yanks sweeping. Now lets move on from that hell hole and win some games in LA

Everyone else? Even Romano? It's a gamble if he will blow the game or not every time he goes out there.

That’s a bit dramatic. Dude has 27 of 30 saves. Yes, some are scarier than others but he is a top end closer. Plus, who else are you gonna get at this point. They have bigger needs.

i dont think you understand. Every other team in baseball's closer is perfect that throws nothing but 1-2-3 innings and never makes mistakes. Only Romano makes mistakes.
