So it begins….genesis cabrera to jays from STL

I would hope the plan isn't to actually roster this guy at the major league level as he's been downright terrible for several consecutive seasons.

I like this. Fastball velocity and whiff from the left side. Cheap pickup with some upside.

He's got one remaining option year which is being used this season so surely they'll put him in AAA to get a look at him with the hopes of him cracking the roster next year.

According to Statcast, Cabrera is throwing 5 pitches as a reliever. Just started throwing a slider. What a mess. Cut him down to 2 or 3 and the Jays might have something.

The front office isn't good with the big picture but they are great at winning little trades like this.

I hope they decide to use the last spot in the bullpen for some roster abuse.

Leave Jackson there because he's throwing well lately. Bring up Cabrera when we have a series against a lefty heavy lineup. Bring up Francis when the bullpen is taxed. Rinse and repeat. Schneider will cream himself with all the matchups he can play.

Ah, so this guy has low standards, and probably low confidence. T.O. girls will just the pick me up he needs to get back on track.

Useful righty? He throws left Eno lol.

He had me in the first half but as soon as I saw righty knew he was a twitter scout.

Pete Walker: "So we want to ramp up your use of the curve and change up."

Yeah Pete Walker absolutely has his pitchers up the usage of their least effective pitches.

Like Jordan Romano basically going 50/50 fastball slider, Richards dropping the breaking pitches completely and going fastball/changeup, Kikuchi dropping the cutter completely etc.

I'm not so sure about these recommendations, although there is the caveat that I haven't seen Cabrera pitch and I'm solely looking at Statcast numers. The curveball is arguably Cabrera's most effective pitch results wise, and his 4 seam fastball appears to be his least effective pitch as it generates minimal whiffs and has largely been teed off of.

If he throws four pitches as a reliever and struggles with command that's obviously an easy fix to cut him down to 2 with maybe an occasional use of a third pitch.

He obviously has velocity. He's got whiff in his career except for last year which was a bit of weird year but he's back to getting whiff this year.

Obviously some stuff to work with there. And they basically get to take a long look at him until the end of next Spring to see if they can figure it out.

Barker posed an interesting question today. If Green comes back throwing well (and possibly Cabrera), would you consider moving Pearson in a deal to get more help for this team? Like Pearson+ for Belly?

Absolutely. I suggested this a couple weeks ago actually. I think we could trade from the reliever depth especially the younger ones who might be seen with more upside to get a bigger deal done.

The + would have to be pretty significant. At this point, every contender in MLB wants Belly.

According to the Sheriff, Belly sucks! Looks like he's the top trade candidate in terms of bats at this deadline.

Bellinger has been a rock star.

f*** I know.

I can't believe I listened to these guys when I asked if I should trade Belly for Sale. I'm regretting huge now!

Nothing interesting happening yet… still waiting.

Normally by this time there’s at least 1 or 2 cool trades that have happened no?

Braves acquire Pierce Johnson for 2 minor leaguers. Could have been a good arm to close out games when Romano isn't available

Braves farm isn't even that great but AA still got it done
