bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 Espinal pinch hitting for varsho is actually hilarious, varsho has been a f***ing zero with the bat
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 They need to stop that stupid romano introduction it does nothing but pump up the other team
Masterbather Verified Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Please sell. This team f***ing sucks. Do not double down on it. People finally seeing the light. Or the darkness. This team never was a championship caliber team. Imagine the incredible returns we can get on some of our assets though.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Red Sox are single handedly tanking our season lol. If we were even just 3-4 against them we would be WC2 and right behind the Orioles. Instead we are 0-7 and on the outside looking in.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Ross, you must be proud of your $200M+ product you put together. The Varsho trade is the icing on the cake.

That trade has little to do with our struggles this year. Moreno suxxx and we just signed Belt instead of Gurriel who is giving us similar production out of the DH spot anyway.
Jaysareus Verified Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Atkins should be fired for the varsho trade alone

bones10 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Author Posted July 2, 2023 Atkins should be fired for the varsho trade alone Moreno sucks, Gurriel is barely better than Varsho and not controllable, trade is a wash at worst.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Vlad was terrible this series. 1 for 11 with 2 walks a run and an RBI. Also had that error in the 7th. His OPS is .792 for the season.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 So: Yesterday the Jays scored six runs and still lost. Bad base running last night. Today, we didn’t score as many runs, but a key two base error in a pivotal part of the game. Also, same damn pitch to Verdugo as last time he hit a game winning HR. I mean first pitch HR, he was obviously sitting on it. Swanson is worn out and others, which stems from SP issues. The Red Sox run rampant over our pen/catchers. I saw it when I was at Fenway and today. We have to control the extra base. Offense is an easy issue to blame, there are other key issues at play here. There are teams that have been more offensively challenged then we are who have been very successful. Run prevention!!

I am 100% on board with blaming Vlad for the entire offensive struggles, the dude is supposed to be literally 5x better than he is right now, he is single handily torpedoing the season if he does not turn it around ASAP. There is no one to look forward to hitting in the lineup except Bichette, and maybe Springer of late.

Pitching was never going to be a strong point of this team, the hitting should and was supposed to easily be able to out slug a team like the Redsox and win a game like yesterday and today handily. It's not happening, Vlad and Varsho are major let downs with the bats.

Everything else is going well enough. We even got big bounce backs from Berrios and Kooch who were the biggest question marks entering the year. But Manoah ate his way out of the league and Vlad is a light hitting defensive liability at 1B so the team is struggling to make WC3.

It's not happening, Vlad and Varsho are major let downs with the bats. All their moves in the off season were for run prevention. Trading Teo for Swanson, case in point. Signing Bassitt and KK, trading for Varsho. Varsho was one of the best defensive CF in the league, not the best CF hitter. The only pure offensive move was Belt. You can’t keep making key errors and win. You never saw the old Rays teams or Yankee make the mistakes we do in the field and on the bases. The pitch calling in some spots has been highly questionable. This is not coming from me, but the homey Rogers team or when I listen to the opposition team’s broadcast. All these little things add up when highly competitive. We need to play clean baseball to give ourselves a chance..
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Vlad tries hard but he's really immature and tries to win the game every single chance he gets. Huge hacks at garbage pitches. Constantly runs into outs on the bases. And today he tried to make a hero throw to 3B which ultimately cost us the game. If he just let the game come to him and focused on controlling what he can he'd be so much better. Dude needs a sports psychologist in the worst way to help him grow the hell up.

I wonder how unlucky he is getting, his xWOBA is in line with 2021, and top 3% in the league. His other stats are also in line with his 2021 season, or slightly better in some cases we desperately need these results to develop in the second half.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 It's a small sample size but the team has got to stop using Swanson in Gausman games. It's not ideal for your top setup man to not be able to pitch in games in which your ace also pitches but it is what it is. The opposing team gets used to Gausman's splitter and then Swanson comes in with a similar but probably worse splitter and he gets knocked around. We need to give the opposing team a different look after Gausman gets through the lineup 3 times and Swanson ain't it.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Everyone should be fired!!!! Start the rebuild. Trade Bo immediately!
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted July 2, 2023 Posted July 2, 2023 Moreno sucks, Gurriel is barely better than Varsho and not controllable, trade is a wash at worst. Moreno sucks? He's literally a kid who is already a top three defender at his position. Sure he hits for no power, but has more than decent bat to ball skills and should hover consistently in the .270 /. 330 range while not being a plug on the bases. If I had to choose between Varsho and Moreno straight up, I'm keeping Moreno and would have traded Kirk.

Greene coming back and being good would help this issue a lot. https://blogs.fangraphs.com/torontos-splitter-squad-doubleheader

He was on IG in the clubhouse minutes before the game making a video of himself talking some stupid s*** in Spanish. He's not focused.

Going forward could he be good? obviously possible hes still a premium prospect but if you're going to give him that luxury you have to give it to Varsho too.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
