They are trying to win games and hes out here loosing the game by him self time and time again. At least Berrios had some occasional good games and Kikuchi was by all accounts ready to do anything last year including going to AAA.

There's a big difference between thinking a guy that is acting entitled vs a guy who is disappointed he won't be able to help his team out. I lean towards the second option personally but I guess we differ there.

Guys like him are literally sitting on winning lottery tickets and yet come to training camp in slightly better shape than your fathers softball league outfielder. As a professional athlete, if I can’t see your belt buckle because of the fat hanging over your torso, there is definitely a problem. The same thing can be said of Kirk. So while I sympathize with his predicament about being demoted, he in no way should garner any sympathy from Bluejay fans. He acted like he was Justin Verlander on the mound, but without all the achievements to go with it. Let’s hope he gets his body and his mind in shape.

i think that by his response about throwing balls and strikes, that there's definitely a large mental aspect to it. I think he needs to regain his confidence amongst other things that many others have mentioned here.

 

When that doubt creeps in and you start telling yourself you "can't throw a ball here?" That leads to a lot of meatballs being served up to hungry, experienced hitters who know exactly what he is thinking.

 

I think it has affected his velocity, his delivery, command and every thing else that goes with it.

Aaron Judge is 6'7" 282 lb and no one calls him fat.

But David Wells is listed in the same place (baseball-reference.com) as having been 6'3" 187 lb and that has GOT to be way low.

Maybe it's the weight they entered MLB at?

This pretty much sums it up for me. People keep bringing up like the only 3 players ever to be overweight and successful pitchers in the MLB as if its something common. It is so rare for it to actually work. out.
