Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Author Posted April 5, 2023 Looks to be pretty good against lefties and his defense in the corner OF looks to be pretty decent as well. He seems like a better fit for the roster than Lukes given 2 of our 3 starting OFers are lefties. But more than anything he's probably good depth. If an OF were to go down we could probably platoon him and Lukes in an OF corner spot and get passable production.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 I'm surprised he was assigned to AAA and not flipped with Lukes on the MLB roster. Maybe they want to see if he still has a pulse before putting him into a spot where he'd be expected to contribute. Good depth for sure.

They probably want him to get some at-bats.

Maybe they want to see what they've got with him for a week or two. I love these lefty mashers though. Great depth pieces to have around to patch up the roster when you inevitably need them. His defense (particularly his arm; he has a cannon) and base running look okay too so he's not just a one trick pony.

Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Exactly the type of player we needed. Good pickup Atkins!
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 5, 2023 Posted April 5, 2023 Good depth pick up. Has been productive in the past as a short side platoon guy.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted April 6, 2023 Posted April 6, 2023 Great pickup for depth. Can crush LHP and play a decent corner OF.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I wonder if Luplow gets called up for Lukes today, Jays' facing 3 LHP starters this weekend?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I wonder if Luplow gets called up for Lukes today, Jays' facing 3 LHP starters this weekend? It would definitely make sense…
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 I wonder if Luplow gets called up for Lukes today, Jays' facing 3 LHP starters this weekend? And thats exactly what happened lol
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 And thats exactly what happened lol Yup they made the move. Luplow is a lot better than Lukes, I like this.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Yup they made the move. Luplow is a lot better than Lukes, I like this. Yea its a smart move. Hes proven to be able to hit Lefties in his career. Hes not a bad Outfielder either.
Jonn Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 Impressive run from Lukes He played the roll of the 26th man. He got to pinch run 3 times. They aren't suppose to play a lot. Thats why you didn't want Otto Lopez sitting around doing nothing. Lukes biggest issues are he can't hit and hes not faster or a better Defender than any of our Outfielders. Usually your extra Outfielder is a speed guy, better Defender, or platoon bat. Lukes was none of those.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted April 7, 2023 Posted April 7, 2023 He's batting 8th and DHing tonight.
Laika Community Moderator Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Looked like f***ing s*** Swing through about five middle middle fastballs hahahaha
Pendleton Old-Timey Member Posted April 8, 2023 Posted April 8, 2023 Looked like f***ing s*** Swing through about five middle middle fastballs hahahaha Yeah especially that one AB, two middle middle fastballs in a row to start the at bat and he looked way late. Hopefully just needs a few ABs to get settled in.
