If the DBacks wouldn't take Kirk, then we should have just said f*** off and looked elsewhere instead of making a s***** trade that many didn't like when it was announced, and is looking worse with every week that passes.

I'm sure we could have got SOMETHING better than Varsho for Moreno/Gurriel from another team.

I would absolutely disagree with this statement.

Its f***ing Baseball dude, there’s 162 games

Your such a Varsho dickrider.

Saying we have to wait 4 years is just so you hope people will forget your s***** take on how great Varsho is.

You'll look like a bigger moron in 4 years. Can't wait to revisit this then.

Kirk and Jansen were two of the best offensive catchers in baseball last season and neither were flash in the pans either. Nobody was predicting that neither of them would be able to hit their way out of a wet paper bag this season. If they weren't sucking right now nobody would be complaining about trading Moreno in that deal.

Good news though, there is lots of season left for both of them to get their s*** together.

So if you want to tout the 4 years of Varsho then you can't ignore the 6 years of Moreno. Especially if those 6 years are better than Varsho.

Also, 4 years of Varsho isn't necessarily better than 1 year of Gurriel if Varsho continues to suck ass.

I didn’t ignore the 6 years of Moreno you dispshit. Literally said they would be the deciding factor.

I get you like doing nothing but bitch, but if your gonna come at me you better be good at reading and comprehension or you’ll get schooled like a 4 year old in Kindergarten whining about nap time.

The key piece for the Blue Jays is Varsho. If he performs at an elite level where he is averaging 4-5 WAR per season, and if Varsho helps them win a World Series, then the Jays are more than okay.

He hasn't shown any evidence this year that he'll be averaging 4-5 WAR per season.

In fact he looks terrible at the plate.

We desperately traded for a LH OF who can't hit just because we painted ourselves into a corner by not being able to get a decent lefty bat in the years prior.

We gambled that Varsho would look better than he was in the NL West, a shittier division than the AL East. In fact he's looked worse in every way. Love his hustle and defense, but if he can't hit then that sucks.

You guys are hoping he turns into a league average hitter. That's not an acceptable outcome in my eyes.

For what we gave up he better be making some all star teams

And he's sporting a 115 wRC+ in May.

You are cherry picking.

Sub .700 OPS over the last week, last 2 weeks, and over the last 30 days.

Oh, and on the season too.

Come on man. Trying so hard to make this trade look better than it is.

So far, it BLOWS

I'm cherry picking lol... oh my.

ETA: Go to Varsho's splits and check April and May wRC+, that's trending up.

What 54 in Aprilm to 115 going into tonight in May, how's that cherry picking ya imbecile, you're doing exactly that.

This is true, grant was never on board with it. Moreno was the next Realmuto.

I didn't make that comparison, but I believe that Moreno is a special player. His combination of contact ability, speed, and defense is a rare combination for a catcher. I see 5 WAR seasons in his future.

Your saying he has a 115 OPS+ in May as if he's on fire.

He's sub .500 OPS over the past 8 games.

~.650 over the last 2 weeks.

~.650 over the last 30 days.

Please tell me again how he's heating up and why I should be so optimistic.

Are you f***ing blind? Are we watching the same games? He looks lost at the plate. I'll admit I like the glove, but I'll say it again, glove first, no-bat LH OF are a dime a dozen.

If you are happy that we got a LH hitting 4th OF for the #3 prospect and a very good hitter in Gurriel, well then I SAY GOOD DAY!

wRC+... I expect you not to understand, it's okay. Speak stupid and move on.

Holy f*** you are acting like a petulant child right now. A baseball season is 162 games long, and the season isn't even a quarter over yet. We haven't seen the best of Varsho yet as he's hit much better than he has early on this season in his time in Arizona.

Nobody should be arguing this trade right now. Only time will tell how bad it is. Its obviously not looking good right now. But the Jays will have 4 years of Varsho and Diamondbacks will have 6 years of Moreno before the dust settles.

I’m assuming the Jays eventually plan to play Varsho in CF so his Defensive metrics will rebound to his overall value from last season. He’s just not going to have the same metrics playing LF. Problem is if he is going to play LF his bat needs to be much better. His bat can hide more in CF a more premium defensive position.

And by no means am I saying Moreno isn't a potential big asset, but to think Varsho isn't in a small sample is absurd. Dude's trolling or legit dumn.

Wow, someone actually speaking sense for once!

Why are the loudest voices always from the dumbest minds… this board has been near intolerable the past couple weeks

The game day threads have near twice the action in losses then Wins, it sells it self with invalids.

Honestly Spanky its not worth the effort. People are going to do dumb s*** and say dumb s*** when they are pissed. We are all guilty of it sometimes in one way or the other. People need to say their piece sometimes and be done with. Not anyones job to police stupidity.

There’s a lot of genuine concerns about this Baseball club right now. Some of it is overreaction some of its true. Long season but this current strength of games will have a major impact on the final standings.

Varsho posted a 4.7 WAR last season. He's still only 26. You have to think he's capable of 4-5 WAR seasons with the Jays.

You should get 2 to 1 odds at least since Varsho sucks.

I don't have a problem with this trade at all.

I know we all loved Moreno, though lets say he played at the Majors this season and struggled offensively - what happens to his trade value afterwards?

Varsho is exactly the perfect fit and exactly what the Jays 2023 roster needed. Left-handed bat with power, a stud defensively and can even play behind the plate the odd time. He's under club control until 2027 and will be 26 next season, so the Jays have him during what should be his prime years. Pretty excited about this one. Glad Atkins did shake things up this offseason. The FO did a great job to address issues that plagued them in 2022.

Let's hope they could add maybe one more elite LHP reliever and another No. 5 starter if possible, though otherwise this has been a very nice offseason for the Jays!

He's done in the minors and just needs some time. I don't love the comparison, but Realmuto wasn't even in the majors at this age and didn't put up an ISO over .150 until his 4th season. Moreno is in the majors and on pace to hit 3 WAR.
