Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 That’s textbook relay, beauty.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Loving Varsho’s defense so far
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 Springer trying to steal in the last week of spring training has me nervous lol No kidding, like... just dont break yourself. Though on the other side of it, im glad these guys are running alot more to find out where their ceilings are for SB this season. Like that play the pitcher had already thrown over twice so it was a really low chance he was coming over again, he got a bigger lead but he blew the timing of the jump something awful. So he can take that into the old mind-bank and do it better next time when it might matter. Though really, I dont want to see Springer trying to steal very often
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2023 Author Posted March 24, 2023 Manoah wanting to help the other team... LOL
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 24, 2023 Posted March 24, 2023 I don’t think this Lindow guy is making the Phils’ opening day roster.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Damn, what a play from KK to save a run from scoring. A 2 out double with a runner on and they didn't score. That's impressive.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Holy s***, Payton Williams (?) is a BIG f***ing boy.
Orgfiller Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Peyton Williams is an absolute unit. Listed at 6’5 255 lbs, 7th rounder from the 2022 draft.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Brantly is a consummate pro, man. Never takes a play off, he's been impressive this spring.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Holy s***, Payton Williams (?) is a BIG f***ing boy. Good stretch at first base too.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Holy s***, Payton Williams (?) is a BIG f***ing boy. That guy should be called something like "Tank".
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I like Thornton calling his own pitches. Seems to be sure of himself out there.
Grant77 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 I like Thornton calling his own pitches. Seems to be sure of himself out there. I've noticed the same. You think that we'll see a lot more pitching surprises than usual this year or that it will all balance out after some time?
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Wow those are good numbers for Clemens... he's s*** though, lol.

I'm a glass half full kinda guy more often than not, so I'm going to think that some of these promising looking things are signs of good things to come. Also, decent D from Williams there to end the game!
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 The Tank can field... Think of some big first basemen that can field.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Think of some big first basemen that can field. Plenty.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 That guy should be called something like "Tank". He’s past Tank, he’s into mountain range territory. I just watched the last few innings and when he came in I thought it was f***ing polar bear wearing a uniform.

John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Plenty. Teixeira was 6’3 and he could field with the best of them at 1b. Can’t think of anyone else bigger who was really good defensively there.
The_DH Verified Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Thoughts of Frank Thomas for the Tank.

I’m in no way making a comparison, but if the criteria is just tall guys who can field, then obvious recent examples include Bradley Zimmer and Aaron Judge. Just a slight difference in athleticism between those guys and Peyton Williams though.

He even played a bit of shortstop.
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 good question maybe not since Montreal has been courting the Rays? Good point
WryNGinger Verified Member Posted March 25, 2023 Posted March 25, 2023 Fundamentally sound... Just imagine what pineapple would have done on that play. I am going to love the Jays outfield D this year.
