Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted January 16, 2023 Posted January 16, 2023 Dude can you stop it with this crap. Jays won’t sign him Texas is a State that can accept a Bauer signing
peterkim Verified Member Posted January 19, 2023 Author Posted January 19, 2023 thats what we had to do instead of 1 year good player vasho
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted January 20, 2023 Posted January 20, 2023 I saw a Pittsburg newspaper called for his signing. I didn’t Google to see if it was a major one, looked it. Good to have a paper on your side. That would be a good spot for him. Blue collar city, nobody goes to see them play anyway
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 Sexual assault aside, Bauer is a psycho douchebag headcase who would quickly poison the clubhouse vibe. Winning is nice but we also need to create a clubhouse where Vlad and Bo want to stay long term. Fun fact, Dr. Dinger worked as a towel boy for the Dodgers, so he definitely knows this for sure
Boxcar Old-Timey Member Posted January 25, 2023 Posted January 25, 2023 No worries, Shatkins have morals. They don't want that douchebag near their players. You are a hero. Make sure to remember to tell yourself that in the mirror each morning.
JaysAllMighty Old-Timey Member Posted January 26, 2023 Posted January 26, 2023 You are a hero. Make sure to remember to tell yourself that in the mirror each morning. Believe it or not, a lot of people are brought up with having morals, nothing to do about being heroes.

connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 (edited) We only passed Stage 1. Signing before the season. It would make a lot of sense why you wouldn’t because of all the negative media attention and the constant questions while getting ready for the season. I think step two will be May 1 or something… if he doesn’t sign by then, I’m not thinking he pitches this year. Edited February 21, 2023 by connorp
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Blacklisted as he should be.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Blacklisted as he should be. Racist.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted February 21, 2023 Posted February 21, 2023 Racist. Hmmm, yes that word probably is rooted in racism.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Julio Urias still has a job It’s interesting. Is it just because when it happened. Probably. I mean me too has been building steam for years, but I mean it’s at its highest point than ever. And just Mlb isn’t NBA or NFL apparently. But like I said, it’s only stage 1
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 22, 2023 Posted February 22, 2023 Hmmm, yes that word probably is rooted in racism. Exactly. Keep it up and we’ll be really hesitant to add you to the whitelist.

I need to quote all the people who clowned on me for saying Bauer would never throw an MLB pitch again. He is done in MLB.

I mean you could be right, but why does playing in Japan for 1 year close the door on every playing in MLB again? Interesting that a team in Japan doesn't care about the allegations (where he was never charged), but MLB does?

Interesting that a team in Japan doesn't care about the allegations (where he was never charged), but MLB does? AOC went off on Japan for being behind the 8 ball with woke lol. But I would think one of the main concerns for mlb teams would be risk vs. reward. There were some questions about how TB would perform/hold up after 2 years. So there will be eyes on him for sure. And the fervor next year will die down a bit. So I don’t think it closes anything, but we’ll see

In Japan, the Bauer civil proceedings in the US would generate little media coverage.

If not now, why next season when he's 33 and hasn't thrown an MLB pitch in 3 years? I think he's been Puig'd.

When the other side starts suing back, the chances of a settlement dwindle. And not getting anything back for the services starts to become a distinct possibility

Obviously good enough to play in MLB but never got the chance again because of off field stuff.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 13, 2023 Posted March 13, 2023 If Bauer has a great season there, I would bet everything that he will be back in the Majors next year. It's a simple risk vs reward issue right now. Once teams see the reward then they will take the risk. The 1 year there will let people breathe and go cry about other people lol.

I don’t think anyone’s perception of the upside potential will shift much if he’s successful in Japan. Everyone knows he’s good.

There's no risk/reward issue here. IIRC, he can be had for league minimum, Dodgers are paying his salary. The issue is a business one. What percentage of a fanbase would be put off by and boycott a team signing Bauer, only the beancounters know.

There are people who have been CONVICTED of more serious crimes that have been let back. Banning him for life would be ridiculous and something I hope doesn't happen.
