Bluejays stadium is one of the handful that are directly downtown within minutes walk for numerous condos. That could appeal to him, get as much sleep as possible, zero commute to the stadium. Have that penthouse condo for the summer. Toronto is one of the most diverse cities as well.

Lol true, something to consider. The area around Dodger stadium is a wasteland and the traffic is brutal.

Dodger's also don't have a Japanese player on their team?

If I remember correctly in those days simply money would have likely got it done. They had to offer a posting fee, the Japanese team took the highest posting fee, then they got a negotiating window, in which they usually had to give the player a free agent like contract (or they could go back to Japan). So it was super-expensive, but a team willing to give up the money got the player.

It turned out to be (just looked it up) a 51.7 million posting fee and a 60 million contract, which amounted to a 6 year 110 million deal, pretty expensive for an unknown.

I wonder what the Jays bid? I think there was a rumor they bid 50 million (which they might have) and everybody thought that was crazy so assumed they won the bid. Maybe they bid 51.6. That would have been funny.

I think it later came out that no one was like 20m from the winning bid for Darvish.

I wonder if Ohtani is racist? Toronto has to have one of the lowest ratios of....umm, "urban" people in the downtown core of all the MLB cities. Though we have a ton of homeless and drug addicts of all types hanging around so that might offset. Not sure if Ohtani will ever make his way to Allen Gardens though.

And from the Rogers Centre condo complexes, the airport is an easy train shuttle away. We need Kikuchi to get Ohtani up here to show him the easy living

He has said he wanted to be on a team who doesn’t already have Japanese player because he wanted to spread out awareness of the Japanese to many team

Didn’t he say the exact opposite and wants to play with a Japanese player?

Let's assume we get Ohtani... what do we do after that?

Turn into the Angels. Ohtani brought a curse over from Japan that makes teams terrible that he plays for.

If Jay's have money for Ohtani, if the don't get him should have the money for a winning Yamamoto bid.

Gausman

Yamamoto

Berrios

Bassitt

Kikuchi

Internal options for 3B. Just need a good LF bat

From when he first signed, was said he didn’t want to take attention away from Japanese star. Maybe different now. May miss Japanese speaking

I thought someone had reported within the last week he wanted to play somewhere with Japanese players. Not sure though

I don't want to go with a rookie at 3b.

Im sure there’s a trade that could be made somewhere. Or just sign someone like Longo

This is kind of the way I see it playing out. Miss Ohtani because he was always going to be a Dodger, but then scoop Yamamoto, and use a chip like Tiedemann to land Soto.

Interesting interview on Blair & Barker pod with Big Papi today on Vlad 40 ish minute mark.

Obviously he is friends with them but it was a somewhat reassuring perspective at least. Just talking about his tools and age. His desire to hit better. Saying that struggles young can be a good thing. Predicts a big year in 2024.

Hitting in between Soto and Ohtani is going to really help Vlad return to form lol

You would actually trade Tiedemann for one year of Soto?
