Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 3-4 weeks with abuela during the holidays sounds like a recipe for disaster. He might lose 40 pounds alright, but it could be after he's already gained 40 during Christmas. So he shouldn't ever see his family? Doesn't he also have kids which he should occasionally not be an absentee father towards? If he has such little self control and discipline that he can't handle some time with his folks then maybe the answer is to trade him, not set up a 24/7 babysitting service.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Cito Gaston has been nominated for the Hall of Fame. He seems like the most obvious candidate to be inducted, especially in an era where the focus is on recognizing the achievements of African Americans. Man I love this post. Dripping with that institutional racism and microaggressions that black people love complaining about. Let's come up some other arguments for his "obvious" induction. Such as the two World Series victories, four division victories and nearly 900 MLB wins under his belt.

I stuck up for all the fatties last offseason when people were dogging on them about being in their home countries instead of the lab. I'm really happy to see him hit the training facilities early.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 On the opposite side of Gaston, is Lou Peniella, who gives off toxic masculinity vibes
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted October 20, 2023 Posted October 20, 2023 Like a modern tv show, make sure to pick one of everything
hanton Old-Timey Member Posted October 21, 2023 Posted October 21, 2023 His body shape/type affects his mechanics.. So they have a symbiotic relationship IMO. It is THE issue with Kirk, less so with Vlady, of course there's a relationship.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 He's still wearing a Blue Jays shirt. He wants to come back!
Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2023 Author Posted October 25, 2023 He's still wearing a Blue Jays shirt. He wants to come back! Or he's just wearing something he doesn't care about getting fish guts on.
The Cats Ass Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Or he's just wearing something he doesn't care about getting fish guts on. This does seem like an "old shirt" task. And technically he is still a Blue Jay until the day after the WS.

Of the ones BNS actually thinks are plausible here, I like scenarios 9 and 10 the most.
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Willy Adames at third is an interesting idea
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Of the ones BNS actually thinks are plausible here, I like scenarios 9 and 10 the most. I certainly like the idea of signing Hoskins and he perfectly fits the bounce back/short term type of deal this front office has had a lot of success with. I'd be down with trading for the likes of Adames (the casuals of the fanbase would absolutely hate him as he's the infield version of Varsho) and Fraley but those theoretical trade offers feel pretty light on the Blue Jays end.
max silver Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Willy Adames at third is an interesting idea For one season that could work, but he's one of the best short stop defenders in all of baseball so it would be tough to not keep him at short stop.

deanmike Verified Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 lol he really wants to trade Santiago Espinal BNS was saying on a podcast recently he thinks what Espinal is at this point, at his arb projection for 2024, is not worth rostering on the 40 man.
Laika Community Moderator Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 • Acquire Jake Fraley for Nate Pearson and Spencer Horwitz • Acquire Dylan Carlson for Alek Manoah • Acquire prospects or cash considerations for Santiago Espinal He is going HARD for these moves. Can't say I dislike any of them.
deanmike Verified Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 Dylan Carlson straight up for Alek Manoah grades as a huge L for the Jays on BTV, so I guess BNS is now a non-believer in Manoah?
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted October 25, 2023 Posted October 25, 2023 • Acquire Jake Fraley for Nate Pearson and Spencer Horwitz . Like the Varsho Trade the 20th percentile bad outcome of that would be like 3-2 WAR for Cinci, but like 18 - -2 in terms of TOronto Star and casual perception. Jake Fraley .220 .340 .460 2 WARs Spencer Horwitz .301 .350 .430 1.5 1b WARs Pearson - 1-0 3.22 1.5 WARs with lots of 102 mph 7th inning big moment pitches when Cinci wins the division series.
Carlos Danger Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 That article doesn’t have my favorite scenario. Trade Vlad Jr for Soto. Padres save a lot of money and we get better, change culture. Yankees are already in discussions with Padres, we better act fast.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Yankees aren't standing pat this offseason. They're going to make some big moves. For those posters who thought the Yankees and Red Sox weren't going to be threats next season better wake up!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 After watching KK and Varsho in the same outfield for a season, I really hope they no interest in acquiring Carlson, much less selling low on Manoah to get him. Overpaying for Soler would a more logical decision than that. At least he would fill a need. Could definitely see Atkins trading for O’Neill, though.
Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 Yankees are going to suck ass. How much do you expect their payroll to be? Six players locked up to a guaranteed $168 million, and at least four of them are going to do f*** all next year. They can sign Ohtani and they'll be the new Angels.

Dick_Pole Old-Timey Member Posted October 26, 2023 Posted October 26, 2023 lol... Oops, my bad. If the Yankees are smart, they will see the writing on the wall, fire Cashman and do a mini-rebuild. If they are dumb, they'll continue on the same path, finish last in the league in OBP except maybe for Oakland with a near $300 million payroll and start a long term decline that sees them overtaken by the Dodgers as the most valuable and most marketable franchise.
