I'm loving the progression of ATTACKED, you guys are hilarious. :)

No one has been cancelled recently. It seems Hurl has been busy with other stuff. Lucky for those who might find themselves on the wrong side of a timeout

If anybody is watching the Twins game what do you think? Did you see the last 2 at bats where Kepler took strike 3, and Lewis missed a high fastball swung at strike 3 on a pitch like 2 feet outside.

I could be getting fooled but still as convinced as ever that the Twins had something on Gausman. Lewis looked like a completely different hitter against Javier. Took so many that were way closer from Gausman, and then killed the fastballs as soon as he got them.

lol. Just checked the box score. They got 5 walks so maybe they are taking some breaking pitches against this guy... haven't watched the whole game, but doesn't like they are hammering the fastball like they know it's coming.

Javier was dealing aside from the command, also these pitchers are nothing alike?

Wow all I do is suggest that the Jays should kick the tires on a FA and now I'm getting attacked.

I think the difference is that Ohtani is a FA so it's only money. It's admittedly a long shot but the Jays have been pretty big players in FA lately and I'm curious as to how the TV situation could help us. Rogers probably has as much money as any other owner, after all. Whereas trading for one year of Juan Soto would require us giving up Tiedeman or something like that which makes less sense to me.

In addition, I'm also not declaring that the Jays must add a 4 WAR player to advance in the playoffs. I think they should definitely look to improve but there are different ways of doing it.

So I'd like to officially note that with this post I have successfully blocked your attack and have landed several counterattacks. Take that pal.

Yeah I obviously would prefer signing Ohtani if the Jays have the money rather than trade for Juan Soto. Heck if the Jays signed Ohtani, I would go all in and trade for Soto. Why not!

I never declared the Jays need to add a 4 win player to make the Postseason. I said it would be nice if the Jays could add another elite player that could provide 4-5 WAR since Vladdy hasn't been that guy and you can't rely on him being that guy heading into 2024 to give yourself the best chance. I agree there are definitely different ways of improving and that's where Atkins will have to be creative. Can't keep the status quo is all I'm saying.

AA before the 2015 season went out and traded for an elite player in JD after the team was mediocre in 2013 and 2014. Look at the difference JD's addition made in 2015. Hopefully Atkins can make a move or FA signing that has the same impact in 2024.

After being tarred and feathered by you just now, I will never stand down and will always counterattack your attacks. Cheers!

What the hell are you talking about? You left about 2 pages worth of comments about how "we need to add another star player." lmao

Yeah and where did I say if they don't add an elite/star player, they won't make the Postseason?

More years will be added to lower the AAV

Yeah, Ohtani's contract is going to be 10-12 years to lower the AAV.

If he was completely healthy and was both hitting and pitching then I think there would have been no chance for the Jays to be in the running given what the price would have been, but as a DH-only for a year and then an unknown pitching career from 2025-onwards, it likely drops his overall value. One option could be to give him the big money over a long period of time but adding a player opt out after year 2 so he could potentially go back on the market two years from now after presumably pitching for a full season in 2025. The Jays would probably have to do something like that in addition to overpaying in order to get him away from the Dodgers and others. It's a nice thought but I don't see it happening.

Trading for Robert is probably more likely of a scenario, though it would be costly. As I said in another thread, the White Sox are really cheap, so if you agree to take Moncada then maybe the price drops a bit, although for cost savings they would likely prefer a team taking Benintendi, which after seeing the 2023 Jays offense would make me want to vomit more than usual.

I would take Moncada as a 3B option. Not a bad player to the roll the dice on and has some nice upside.

My bad when you said "we need to add a star player" I didn't realize you meant "we don't actually need to add a star player to make the playoffs."

He said advance in the playoffs. I sent you a DM in the hockey league, see it?

I really like that idea by glory, 2 birds 1 stone, but would Chicago do that?

I bet he's on the block. They suck ass, he doesn't have much control left, and their owner is cheap as hell.

I agree to a ceasefire until tomorrow morning at 7am when I make my coffee. For now, no more attacks during the Orioles/Rangers game.

Like Glory said, maybe you can lower the price on Roberts if you take Andrew Benintendi off their hands. He's owed $60M though still over the next 4 years. Maybe the Sox could eat some of it?

If Benintendi was a free agent, likely a team rolls the dice on him on a 1-year contract worth $10-12M. Kind of like how the Jays rolled the dice on Belt last offseason. In 2022, Benintendi had a 122 wRC+ and 2.8 WAR. As well, he's still only 29.

Roberts and Moncada would both be great. If you added Benintendi meh, but he would have a starting spot in the lineup replacing Belt and playing sparingly in the OF. If it he lowers the cost on Roberts, I would consider it.

He wouldn't be bad and is a realistic option.

Still just 28, and had a 4 WAR season in 2021 and a 5.5 WAR season in 2019. Only 1 year left as well + a club option.

Ohtani would be crazy to come to play in Canada. Hate to break it to you guys but there is no money here folks. Just on sponsorships alone the US would be something like a factor of ten the amount he could possibly earn vs here.

We need a bat but it has to be someone with some power. We need homeruns like a addict needs his next hit. Ross Atkins knows that, and admitted as much in his press conference. Benintendi would be okay I guess, but not for the Jays. Moncada would be awesome and Atkins is motivated in the sense that he knows this is his last kick at the can. He may pull an AA and empty the cupboards to bolster his legacy (unless Shapiro puts the kibosh on everything).

Let's face it, Vladdy isn't going to take this team to the promised land; he's not built for it. Vladdy is a support player he's no Alpha.

Hmm guess I didn’t think about sponsorship opportunities taking a hit

“What to do about the fractured relationship between the front office and clubhouse, one that has coaches steaming about Atkins’ public hanging of manager John Schneider?“

Wow. Just wow.

Thursday can’t come soon enough. Shapiro needs to fire both and start fresh.

Wow. Just wow.

Late in the season, it was revealed that he had injections on his shoulder, a procedure Atkins distanced himself and the team from by saying Manoah initiated the procedure on his own.

“It was his decision,” Atkins said. “We supported him. He made the decision on his own to move in that direction There were no structural issues.
