Ok it's story time. I have a friend who seems to have a ton of connections to the Jays and he tells me:

 

1. Gausman microdoses shrooms before every start (which increases focus). I'm curious if this is a thing with other players.

2. Kikuchi eats honey every 2nd inning, which he apparently uses to get a better grip on the ball - but has gone unnoticed by MLB all year (this one seems fishy).

3. Clement is a booze hound. One of the only single guys on the team and loves to party and wheel the ladies. Not a coke guy though - although it sounds like others are (which isn't surprising).

 

I expect most will be skeptical, but I thought it was interesting and thought I'd share.

I dont see how team like St Louis wouldnt give up someone like Gorman to get Manoah

 

Been a top of the rotation guy for the majority of his major league career, still has plenty of team control.

 

Not saying it'd be smart for the jays, but I cant see how he couldnt get someone that can be in the lineup for next year.

 

I don't think they would consider that

 

Maybe you could get a replacement level young guy like Andrew Vaughn but what is the point

I mean they do chill with them, that much is a fact. The players themselves talk about it on their podcast and there's pictures of them with the players in bars and stuff.

 

Posters here may find them annoying, and that's fine, but some of the players genuinely like the guys.

I don't think he's using it to make his sweat sticky. Perhaps it helps when he licks his fingers? I didn't care enough to dive into the details.

It's remarkable to me that management allows three key players on the team to set this sort of standard for the organization. How do you just let them be fat asses and not address it?

Trevor Richards and Bowden Francis well...you know. Francis K'ed the side just last night.

 

This FO deal has really worked out well for us.

Bigly, the Silver Fox has been excellent, and the Jays have years of control of Francis, very nice deal.

Yup turned out to be a great deal. Tellez has been awful with the Brewers and Richards/Francis have been big pieces down in the pen this season.

Meh when you're still giving guys like Tapia and Zimmer a lot of at-bats last season and this season Biggio and Espinal, it's fair to question the lack of depth in some areas on the roster. Plus I don't want to bring up 2021. Luckily a lot of guys from Buffalo have been producing up here in the absence of Chapman and Bo. Not sure how long that lasts but let's keep riding their hot bats for as long as we could!

 

As for the bullpen, Atkins has built a very deep bullpen this season so kudos to him and the front office. Richards and Francis have been great! Still a little worried if they have to close out a 2-1 or 3-2 game starting from the 5th inning on, but every bullpen isn't perfect.

One thing that's stood out as weird all season is how for some reason Cavan Biggio is the only player on this roster that can backup Springer in RF even though he's hopeless defensively in the OF. Yet Whit and Varsho have both barely sniffed playing time there even though they both have many innings of major league reps in RF with their previous teams. Why is the team so deadset on Biggio's sub-replacement level output in RF being Springer's only backup option?
