You might have missed the gong show that happened about a week ago. It went off the rails in a hurry.

I was at camp for the last 2 weeks, so I certainly did.

I'll just say...nobody cares!!!...to all of it

How this is still a topic to be focused on is hilariously stupid for the Jays and here

As long as you don't physically hurt someone....be, do, and think what you want

Focus on baseball

I get what you're saying but he's absolutely still in season when it comes to his throwing programs, pen days, etc. It's not like he's being 100% shut down, he could only be shut down if he is placed on the IL. Suffice to say that anything body shape related is handled in the offseason, there's too many variables to deal with in season for that stuff. Diet can be changed sure to change the types of foods he eats, but they wouldn't be concerned with calories surplusses or deficits as it relates to specific body changes

Workout programs and exercise with any specific goals would all be off season work as well.

Manoah could lose 10 pounds by having Florida optimize his food. It really wouldn’t be difficult at all.

Baseball is an anaerobic sport. Pretty sure they can work a few deficit days throughout the week.

Yeah I agree and I think that’s why they sent him to FL and not Buffalo.

Steve Phillips actually had some decent insight on this and he thinks that Manoah gained weight in his upper body through weight training in the offseason. It then tightened his arm action and he’s not getting as much movement on his pitches. I have no idea if this is true but it does seem plausible.

I'm curious if the Jays do try and push fitness and diet on him what his reaction will be. He's always been very sensitive as it pertains to any conversation dealing with weight...at lease via Social Media.

Well he could either take the advice and do something about it or hang out in the minors. Unfortunately it seems like he feels his weight might not be the issue, it looks like he's blaming it on his midset.

I'm not going back multiple pages to prune posts, but please keep this about baseball, or baseball-adjacent things (ex. Manoah's severe obesity). Thanks.

Yes he does. Like he doesn’t believe it’s an issue. It’s great you had a nasty slider but when you’re trash and 60 pounds too heavy people are going to wonder if that’s part of the problem.

I don’t care what anyone says, that is not optimal playing weight.

Could very well be. It’s bizarre to me that this happens at the elite level. Like clearly Alex’s biggest flaw is his body. Do they not send him home with a detailed step by step program that is spoon fed to him? Does he not do it? Are there no repercussions? I’ve seen NHL offseason plans sent home by the team and there’s no guesswork to be done

I hope the demotion doesn't make him depressed, which in turn makes him eat more...

I'll never understand why you idiots are so eager to argue about religion and politics on a baseball forum.

I am going to just start banning people who can't help themselves.

For the record, John_Havok was the instigator here. I will not forget this.

Maybe we should start a separate Anthony Bass thread. If anyone wants to discuss his situation they can do it there. The rest of us can all ignore it and this thread and others can get back to baseball talk.

Here, I started a separate Anthony Bass thread:

9/10 these topics are started by people talking s*** about religion, Christians, calling people rednecks, etc

So posters who feel insulted are obviously going to clap back

What do you expect? If you want to curb those posts don’t allow these guys to talk all the s*** and then throw their hands up and say “welp I’m done let’s get back to baseball” once the other side starts shooting their shot

It is. Nobody has a problem when the names being called are hillbilly or red neck but when I call it like I see it and call someone a groomer all posts must be deleted

I don’t instigate these things anymore (I used to) but if the conversation is being allowed one way I’m going to share the other side

I'm as conservative as it gets but there's just no need to reply. Just report it and move on. No one gives a f*** what random internet people think about politics on a baseball forum. Doesn't matter if you start it or are merely replying. No one cares.

In fact, I think those that do post about politics, even if it's something 90% of everyone agrees with, are less respected around here than those that don't. You could say something very politically milquetoast and popular but the mere fact that you brought up politics in itself is frowned upon.

Do you have a persecution fetish?

Would Jesus Christ ever "clap back" on an internet forum? lmao

Just ignore it

The random anon on the internet "talking s*** about religion, Christians, calling people rednecks"

unless you're a soft little snowflake and just cannot help but reply?

that's deeply ironic, though
