I think this team just can’t handle the pressure and expectations, and that starts with the core guys like Bo and Vlad. Teams like the Rangers/Orioles/Redsox are all playing well because they have 0 pressure and 0 expectations.

 

Idk, it is what it is. Maybe we never win anything or make a deep run with Bo/Vlad because they just aren’t THOSE guys.

 

Bo is having the best season of his career so far, kinda hard to put anything at his feet. While Vlad should be hitting better, he’s still well above average in star territory. This has to do more with the pitching than anything

It's frustrating because he has all the tools and talent in, but he just hasn't put it together (aside from 2021). He's looking like worst out of the bunch of young superstars in the league right now (Tatis, Acuna, Soto, Bichette, Alvarez, etc). Which kinda sucks when he was the best prospect out of all of them.

Bo’s defense seems to crack under pressure though. Wildcard game, Phillies game a couple weeks ago, etc.

It seems like Vlad is stuck in a mental rut. He has all the tools but gets over anxious when the pressure is on to be the guy. Its frustrating knowing how much potential he has and his failure to reach it.

 

I dont care what people say about control and small sample size. but Varsho looks terrible, the trade looks terrible. Atkins job has to be in question for this alone if it doesn't turn around. He has a 0.4 WAR so far compared to Moreno's and LGJ 1.9. Defense is suppose to be his strong suit but he doesn't look that great. We traded a top 10 MLB prospect who is a catcher a highly coveted position. Instead of trading Jansen who spends a third of every season on IL and an overweight guy who can hit a little. And we got Daulton f***ing Varsho everybody.

 

Bichette and KK have been our best players by far since Chappy has come back to Earth. I think we are going to be scrapping it out for a wilcard spot at 85-90 wins, but I think there is going to be some serious considerations for big changes after this year. There has to be with the underperformance and roster blunders, not to mention the farm system being a wasteland.

Nah man its just tough to watch right now, and they’ve dug themselves a hole already. I’m tired of every season looking the same, it would be nice to get off to a good start and coast into the playoffs just once.

Not from me, pitching is the problem overall. Situationally there’s always times where a bat fails, or whatever, but overall issues on the team right now stem from the pitching being wildly inconsistent

Thanks man. He played 13U AAA (lost provincial championship final game - d-oh!) and now 15U AAA Tier 1 now for the 2nd year.

 

Not a great pitcher and fielder. Just ok. Plays 1B, 2B and OF. But he is a LHH who hits somewhere in the 3rd to 5th hole. Thats his best tool.

lol. Ya I think. I'm sure I'll jinx him but 80 PAs in and he has not K'ed once this season. The next lowest on his team would be 10. Given he has 2B and 3B pop, I'm pretty pleased with that.

 

Team kinda sucks this year. Their best player just got drafted #2 pick overall in WHL so quit baseball for hockey. Now that sounds more like a "Canadian baseball player".

 

Played football at Acadia with a bud from NS whose son got a full ride to Oregon State Beavers. First year hit Lead off and played CF. Then hurt for 2 seasons. Its a factory though and he quickly became irrelevant. Thankfully he is healthy in Year 4 and has fought his way back into the mix and doing well. At a min he will end up with free education but its a tough go. Its a business even at that level. Always a kid wanting to take your place.
