Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 ? Dafuq? If it was so simple it would have been decided a while ago. This is a silly comment... all of their stars are in the same arb situation? Don't take the easy bait stang...i'm not connor. No I am not. Bo seems intent on going to FA come hell or high water... His comments on the process and his willingness to test it every year indicate he is not going to sign a "team friendly" deal at any time. His on field production is unlikely to change regardless of how the arbitration panel decides. Given what I have stated, who benefits from signing this deal other than to reduce the media optics for the next 3 years? I think that both sides have already decided on what range arbitration will come in at over the next 3 years and have decided to say "f*** it" let's not bother and move on. Well… yes that’s probably exactly it. You do get it.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Well… yes that’s probably exactly it. You do get it. Not that you need me siding with you, but right? Says he doesn’t get it but then ends up saying he gets it without realizing

Make it make sense.
Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 ZiPS overcompresses these projections You can almost just add ten wins to the team who will win the division and take ten away from the Red Sox Maybe with the new schedule we see Toronto and the Yankees eclipse 100 wins
L54 Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Zips has never been a good projection system in my opinion.

Wouldn’t be shocked if that number is actually over 100
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Red Sox are losing a minimum of 90 games of this season. Wouldn’t be shocked if that number is actually over 100 I don't think they are that bad, coupled with the fact they'll be playing the rest of the division less often. I could see 75-ish wins
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 This Jays front office seems to like settling out the arb years in advance just so it's done and reduces the possibility of stress and conflict. And also so it's easier to budget. Have they actually even gone to arbitration with any player recently? They've now done this sort of thing with Chapman and Bichette. I was kind of expecting the same for Jansen but would prefer a deal that buys out some FA years instead. Still no word on the actual dollar structure or even the total yet?

Laika Community Moderator Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 I'm curious how Joe Siddall will be in two places at once Swing man. Probably only in the booth when Buck or Dan can't do a game. With Buck's health they need to stretch Joe out in spring though.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted February 8, 2023 Posted February 8, 2023 Nice slate of ST games being broadcast too. Last few years most of the broadcasts were just weekends.

IMHO Alan Ashby with his time here was Joes equal.

Saul Korman passed away in January 2021 at 86. Sounds like COVID was a big factor, but Saul's son also wanted to retire. I just learned this today myself. Loved their commercials. Sad I never made it down to buy something.

I ended up using a web browser.
