Varsho is a low AVG hitter with pop

 

for the most part you just want guys who can get on base in front of him so he's hitting 2 and 3 run bombs

But yeah, Kirk based on the way he hit last season should be getting a lot of ABs and hitting near the top of the lineup.

I just don't know what scenario this would ever happen in.

 

If Varsho is able to get to 2nd, it would be a good enough hit that Kirk would go 1st to 3rd unless he totally misreads the ball. If Varsho is scoring from 1st, Kirk definitely has enough time to score from 2nd.

 

The only scenarios where his speed would be suppressed is on potential 1st to 3rd scenarios with Kirk on 2nd and they hold Kirk at 3rd. Or tagging up on flyballs and advancing a base.

 

I don't think it will come up very often. More important IMO to have guys like Kirk/Belt on base for a Varsho homerun like Laika mentioned

The projected Blue Jays batting order I saw today has Varsho hitting in front of Kirk, so moot point if Bowling ball will be slowing the man down.

Lineup is going to be different on a day-to-day basis most likely anyways, based on pitching matchups, who's hot, injuries etc. Especially given the Jays depth this season.

Unless they're willing play play Belt in RF occasionally but I doubt it. He hasn't played in the outfield at all since 2019.
