So other than the pitching side I don't think you're going to get a deep list of hyped up prospects who got screwed by injuries.

On the hitting side you'll have to just think of plain old disappointments. Travis Snider and Sil Campusano are probably on the corners.

I guess Josh Phelps is the 1B? He could also be DH or C but there are many other C options.

Russ Adams the SS?

Angie Schimdt? Or does the player need to be a MLB level bust?

Still hilarious

Idiot fans like that should be slapped. Yeah he sucked that year, boo him on the field all you want. On the street, keep your f***in mouth shut, your privilege to heckle doesn’t extend past the stadium doors.

I would tend to agree, but in this situation, that looks to be like a 10 or 11 year old kid asking for an autograph and he just ignores the kid like he doesn't exist. He doesn't even acknowledge or look at the child to say something like "sorry kid - not tonight". I wonder if the heckler is the kids father. If I was in the same situation and that happened to my kid - I might do something similar to be honest (I'd probably start with something more civil like "c'mon Rios, don't just ignore the kid"). For some kids - that interaction might be a once in a lifetime experience. I've taken my 3 boys to LOTS of spring training games and I can tell you their eyes still light up when they get an opportunity to get an autograph or be that close to a ML ball player.

Now fair - apparently he was coming from a charity event and I don't know what it was or if he just spent the last hour signing autographs - but this reminds me of how he acted when I was there during the special Blue Jays meet and greet that I attended after a spring training game. He walked around with his head up like he was better than everyone. He showed up really late and was the first one to leave. There were dozens of kids surrounding him and he just ignored them. I vividly remember wanting to say something to him that day because it really pissed me off.

There were lots of stars there that day, like Doc, Aaron Hill, Vernon Wells, etc. who sat there from start to finish with a smile on their face, signing autograph and interacting with fans and kids all f***ing day - but the minute Rios arrived, he looks miserable. His face was so punchable that we just walked away. When you're a **** - you deserve to be reminded of that - no matter what day or time it is IMO - and Rios is a f***ing ****.

I'll always remember this story - we were in Bradenton watching the Pirates play a spring training game. The bullpen was really accessible and there was a no-name pitcher who had finished warming up (he wasn't going into the game - was just getting some work in). My kid was probably 8 at the time and he ran over the watch them warm up (I stayed back and watched from afar). He was the only kid there and he had a ball and pen with them. He sat there patiently (not a loud kid) at the fence, but the pitcher ignored him. Finally someone from up top yelled down at the pitcher - and sure enough - it was his parents who were there to watch him. Oh man were they disappointed with their son. They laid into him about forgetting what it was like to be a little kid and how special moments like that could be. The pitcher came over, apologized, signed the ball and spent a few minutes talking to my son. That made his day and he went home with a smile from ear to ear.

The Blue Jays opened renovation to a media tour this morning. In Phase 1, they've tried to turn the OF into a "social district," said Anuk Karunaratne, EVP biz ops. They're adding a rooftop bar, lounge spaces, different seating options. Also, wider seats in entire 500 level.

Shi Davidi

@ShiDavidi

Capacity in the seating bowl (not counting flight deck, boxes, etc) is decreasing ~7%, from 44,750 in 2022 to roughly 41,500. The 100-level seating around the field will be completely redone next off-season. For now, here’s a look at the 500 new seats beside the old ones.

Shi Davidi

@ShiDavidi

My main curiosity is with the new OF wall and its dimensions. The Blue Jays say those won’t be ready to share until next month. But these images help trace its shape and perhaps adds another factor that went into the winter emphasis on OF defence.

Shi Davidi

@ShiDavidi

First off, the walls by in the corners by the new elevated bullpens will be much higher – we estimated them at about 2.5 @bnicholsonsmith’s, or 15 feet, give or take. The wall seems to jut out from before, too, maybe to 320 feet from original 328.

@ShiDavidi

Fans will now be on top of the Blue Jays bullpen and will have clear views of relievers as they warm. The bullpens will each have two levels, so relievers can catch shade or do their warm-up exercises beneath the mounds.

@ShiDavidi

The wall will dip in height in the alleys and in CF, but that’s not really in place yet. The seating there will be extended right down to the edge of the wall, so every HR now will land in stands/bullpen. There will also be a new batting eye in CF with a bar in stands behind it.

Shi Davidi

@ShiDavidi

The visitors bullpen in RF will be elevated just like the home 'pen, with deck areas in the stands above. The angles in the new wall outline suggest potential for balls to come off the wall in unusual directions. CF will need to be much more active. KK is going to be busy.

I always love Club 200 infield either third base or first base side. Smaller concourse than 100 and 500 levels, so makes it better for concessions and washroom lineups. As well, the views are great as well.

With less than three months to go before the April 8 home opener, Rogers Centre looks like a very different place. Renovations ongoing. Among the biggest changes by #BlueJays: higher walls in LF & RF. Raised bullpens closer to fans. New fan spaces on 200 & 500 levels.

@bnicholsonsmith

Seating capacity is also decreasing at Rogers Centre. Capacity was 44750. Will decrease to 41,500 or so in ‘23. Plus further capacity for standing room & suites.

Then in 2024 when next phase of renos happens, lower bowl seats will be replaced, reducing capacity further.

Here’s a look at the RF seats on top of the visitors’ bullpen. #BlueJays are adding bleachers here — a first for them.

Here’s a look at the view from the 500 level, where the #BlueJays are now replacing the original seats from 1989 with wider seats while also adding fan gathering spaces — one bar & one more family-friendly area.

The fan gathering spaces in the outfield look really nice.

They do

Going to get tickets there for a game for sure

Do you need tickets for those spaces or can you just go with any ticket?

Kid is not entitled to an autograph. No need to be a dickhead just because he didnt give an autograph.

That's true - nobody is entitled to an autograph. But f*** me - take a second to think about this. Young kids dream of becoming major league ball players when they grow up. That's what drives little league baseball and it's one of the few magical things in this world. Whether it's right or wrong, kids naturally look up to professional athletes as they dream of being in their shoes one day. When they get the rare chance to meet a real major league ball player - maybe one of the players from their favourite team - maybe their favourite player - it's a big f***ing deal.

For Rios to simply ignore him like he didn't exist is f***ing heartless. He didn't even look down to acknowledge there was a 10 year old there. So yes - the kid isn't entitled to an autograph and I guess you could say Rios isn't required to be a decent human being in that situation - but if you take that stance, then Rios isn't entitled to his own privacy, nor should he be shielded from someone chirping him for being a **** - and a s***** baseball player (he was 0-5 with 5 K's that day I understand). If he's out in public, then I guess I'm entitled to say whatever the f*** I want to him - especially if he's being a **** to a 10 year old.

If Rios is a decent human being in this situation, even without signing an autograph, then he doesn't get chirped.

Good day.

Agreed - I think the 200 level in general is the best place to be in the stadium. Shorter lines and I like the view being up higher a bit. 200 right behind home plate is just perfect IMO.

Super stoked to see the final look of the new outfield.

Agreed - I know there have been renovations and changes over the years (flight deck being the biggest to date that I can remember), but this seems like the first MAJOR change and I'm really excited to see how it turns out. Couple this with the notion that there will be changes to the 100 level next year and it's really exciting (as we know a new stadium probably isn't in the cards for the foreseeable future).

I just bought two tickets in section 224 for the Mariners on April 29.

Might get OF seats for April 30...

Edit: Got section 139 for April 30

The #BlueJays released more details/updates for the ongoing stadium renovation today.

There will be 4 new social spaces, called "outfield neighbourhoods" free to all fans. Also new food options, including banh mi sandwiches, Jamaican beef patties, BBQ brisket nachos etc.

Wow - there's hardly any tickets left for any games. I can't find any tickets for the OF at all.

What games you looking at?

Actually you're right. It probably means so much to a kid to even get a high five from a player, it does have a big impact on them. Rios is a dick for sure.

Although im always going to be against heckling athletes when out and about.

There is no way we are close to selling out all games. They must be holding some tickets or we'll attribute this to User Error lol.

The series v. Seattle, then Atlanta and then I looked at July 1st, which I know is Canada day (although it said 3% of tickets remaining for it, and just 2% for Seattle and Atlanta). Maybe it's user error as I'm doing about 12 things at once today.
