The above link refers to a phone call taped by police where there is apparently an admission of activity contrary to MLB policy. I expect the entire call, and all other information, was available to the independent arbitrator.

Bauer now has a history of allegations by 4 separate women, all of which are of a similar vein: violence against women. Not hard to see why he might never pitch in MLB again. Because (1) it is likely that other women will come forward, and (2) Bauer is likely to continue the behaviour.

Bauer can sue MLB over the suspension and loss of many millions of dollars. He has not. This is in effect an acceptance of the arbitrator's decision that he violated MLB's policy.

I think he has not is very premature. He might need to see if he gets signed by an MLB team to be able to have an understanding of damages which is key in a civil lawsuit.

 

If Bauer gets signed to an MLB team for this upcoming season, he could only claim damages on the portion of his suspension the Dodgers didn't pay plus some other restitution. If he can't get signed by a MLB team in the near future, then he could claim lifetime of potential MLB earning plus the amount he already lost.

3 have made allegations. The details of when each relationship started, and even if there was one, and how old Franco was when it started, are unknown to us. But again, when the age difference is 3-4 years usually nothing happens, DR, Canada, or USA.

There's no real reason for us to. Very risky signing at those prices when there's other high end options available with MLB track records.

Insane for a 5’10” NPB pitcher. He may very well be good but giving Gerrit Cole money to a guy who has never thrown a MLB pitch and has that build is dumn.

 

Hopefully the Giants get him and it takes them out of the running for Chapman and Bellinger which in turns lowers their prices. Or the Red Sox or Yanks and they get saddled with what will surely be an albatross contract at some point.

And how does this equate moral turpitude on my part? If you don't think my position is reasonable, explain why not. I'm basically taking the same position I did with Bauer, it depends on the facts. In Franco's case, it depends on the relative ages and the nature of the relationships.

Trevor Bauer was an ******* long before those charges and has a long history of being abrasive, being a s***** teammate, and being a headache with his stupid political opinions. Most teams just don’t want anything to do with a guy like that, much like Puig. The Bauer apologists love to pretend he was canceled just because of one girl’s subsequently dropped accusations, and that’s simply not true.
