Good deal for both of them, Dodgers are going hard in the paint, we kind of knew this was going to happen this year when they stayed out on everyone last season and got under the tax threshold. Yamamoto's next.

They waited until after the press conference to make it official so no conflict and to put their actions where their mouth was to Ohtani..

 

They still need another solid SP.. Def still in on Yamamato.

No kidding. They "take a step back" and still win 100 games, then the next off season add a 3rd MVP to their line up and a pitcher good enough to be an ace (when healthy). Probably not done either. I bet Yamamoto signs with them too.

The Dodgers are what the Yankees used to be man. It's crazy the level of winning those f***ers have achieved for so long. I'm not even sure if they've had back to back below .500 years in like 30 years.

They've won 100+ games in 6/7 years and haven't won less than 91 games in the last 11 seasons, 11 straight playoff years too.

 

Only 1 WS though.

And yet… only 1 world series title in a shortened season.

Ya thats crazy... reminds me of the Glavine/Maddux/Avery/Smoltz Braves if they played like 30 years in that regard lol.

Did you guys listen to the Ohtani press conference? Ohtani said a key reason he picked the Dodgers is because even though they have been in the playoffs the last 10 years and won one WS, they think of that as a failure. That is the mindset and commitment that attracted Ohtani.

 

Our 3 playoffs appearances via the WC and 2 and out is not in the same universe.

 

Some on here have said that it is a good job, we made in the playoffs three of the last four years. For the Dodgers, that is still failure.

Could the Dodgers land more likeable superstars? Hard to cheer against Betts, Freeman and Ohtani. They will all be players we're still talking about, telling our grandkids in 30-40 years.

That's all just lip service though man. Teams that get eliminated will ALWAYS tell the fans/press that this season was a failure and they need to work hard to get better. You really think a major factor in Ohtani's decision was the scripted BS they tell the media and fans?

If you listened to the press conference, which it appears you didn't. That is what was told to Ohtani in a closed door meeting and Ohtani was pretty tight lipped about how he made his decision. Of all the factors that went into making his decision, he chose to highlight that point.

 

The Dodgers have a WS ring in that period, WS appearances, Division champs etc and they still call that a failure... Not the same as Ross and Mark saying we need to do better.

They are working from a different baseline, that creates a certain mindset, across the entire organization (from rookie ball up...); essentially a high performance team
