Sad to see Kim Ng go. I'll never forget that she traded us Adam Cimber and Corey Dickerson for Joe Panik.

Looks like I'm going to have to readjust my mock offseason as I had us trading several of our cute slap hitters to the Marlins to fill our various needs. Bummer.

These are all weak counters.

Anthopolous started in the mailroom, but he didn't jump over any rungs. Go look at his actual resume. He held basically every position up the ladder from the scouting side.

This woman has never even been a Manager in the minor leagues, nor has she held an on-field or bench coaching role at the MLB level. So what qualifies her to be one of the few that gets the serious opportunity to interview for literally the biggest role in the profession, at an age that is absurdly below the norm for the position we are talking about? That would be like Anthopolous getting promoted from regional scout to GM - it didn't happen and it doesn't happen.

What's funny is that the Giants were below average league wide in base running this past season. So not only does she clearly not possess the qualifications when compared to her peers who normally interview for MLB Manager jobs, but also her primary coaching involvement wasn't even noteworthy.

If the Jays were to fire Schneider tomorrow, do you think that nameless Asian guy who's always on the phone in the dugout would get a crack at interviewing for the job?

You are trying to come up with a rational answer, but you inherently know what the true motivation is. It's San Francisco, after all.

Also, not trying to snarky, but LMAO at the idea of a 33 year old former softball player being the "best communicator" to handle what will be a roster with like 50%+ Latin American players. Did you type that with a straight face?

Not that you're wrong, but why are you so up in arms about this? Of course there a possibility she's getting "some" preferential treatment based on her gender. Heaven forbid that happens once in awhile after all the discrimination their gender has received over the years.

Everybody knows why it happened but they just won’t admit it

If nobody cares then why does it enter the MLB news cycle while the rest of the candidates do not?

Because it generates clicks man. That's now news/media works - never expect anything different. Lots will be enraged that a woman got an interview and they will click on that story and get angry about it (see above for examples). There are also lots of people who will think it's great and click on the article to find out more about it.

So basically the media profits by creating and thriving off controversy. It’s good we can all at least come to the same conclusions, just different ways

Or maybe we could trade them a future all star catcher for an only defensive player who can't hit?

I know you were her biggest fan. Every time I heard Kim Ng's name, I thought of you Term!

The media and politicians love division.

Kim Ng is the modern day Branch Rickey, you misogynist!

She made some really f***ing dumb trades but also some good smaller deals and ended up working out really well. Marlins had a pretty lucky Season overall. Marlins higher ups obviously didn't believe it was sustainable. It would have been an ultra fast promotion to President as well.

Never been a fan. Chauvinist pig aside, I’m not a baseball expert, but the Avisail Garcia signing was really inexplicable to me. I wonder if she got some assistance after that idk

So yeah, same situation as AA...

Kinda, except in the Jays situation they were just replacing Beeston who was already in that role

But yeah similar

Who signs him...

His agent moved to Japan with him?

Sounds like it, likely for the season anyway, lol. I think she lost clients after she backed him. Likely his PR team etc there.

Huge props to Rachel Luba for not dumping Bauer. She looks like Aces at this point. I wonder if we see her pick up some other massive clients in the next couple of years.

Speaking of Bauer, I was looking at SP in the Japanese League for 2023. If you sort by strikeout rate and ignore pitchers who didn't throw 100 innings (so we are only looking at full time starters) the two standouts are:

Bauer, 130.2 IP, 4.19 K/BB, 9.0 K/9, 3.03 RA9

Shota Imanaga, 148 IP, 7.25 K/BB, 10.6 K/9, 2.80 RA9

Imanaga is 30 and getting posted this offseason. Bauer's stats give a nice benchmark - Imanaga might be "better than Bauer".

She basically got Jerry McGuired. Little different way but No choice in the matter.

She didn’t move there, but the Momentum crew was recently over there for what I assume was the end of Bauer’s season there

Luba and the King of Juco and the rest of them

I mean yeah. The money made the decision for her I guess.

That’s too bad, we could use another lights out addition to the bullpen. 27m career earnings was enough I guess. He should have milked another year imo.
