What part of my post was against forum rules?

Rehashing your feelings about a trans swimmer in a thread about baseball, on a forum about baseball.

Anyway, good luck to the Marlins in getting a quality baseball executive to agree to be their next GM. They are probably working off a rather small candidate pool.

Oh but the intersection of gender and sexuality in a thread about baseball, on a forum about baseball meets the criteria. Got it

No issue with Jim’s first point. The second part is clearly an invitation for debate which the board should be steering away from.

Huff is just a bitter, s***** person. Completely dismisses her experience because his feelings are hurt that a woman got a chance to interview for what he considers a man's job.

Huff may be a moron and a s***** person, but is he wrong about this being a "motivated" interview? She is 33 years old and when she was hired as an intern it was in some nutrition role. As best as I can tell, her current role as an assistant coach involves "base running and outfield defense".

That's it? That's the resume of an alleged MLB managerial candidate? Fun fact, but she is 4 years younger than Carlos Marmol who is the youngest Manager in the league today. Take a look at Marmol's resume compared to hers. For her to be a candidate at her age would imply that she is some sort of unprecedented prospect, but yet, her actual resume doesn't indicate that at all. So what's going on, and why is it THIS base running assistant that's jumping past multiple rungs on the ladder at an incredibly young age to get this interview opportunity? Do other teams' random 30 year old assistants get to interview for the biggest coaching role in the profession? Is that normal?

I'm sure you know the answers to those questions.

Then don't engage in debate! Be the change you want to see.

A 10-year employee applied for a promotion, the team granted her an interview, and will likely hire someone older/more experienced. Why even try to parse through their various motivations, let alone get angry about it?

It's California, so the Giants probably have an inclusiveness hiring policy.

It may simply be that this person is the best communicator in the clubhouse, has excelled in every role assigned, and just happens to be a woman.

Anthopoulos started in the Expos mailroom, IIRC, and made some pretty dramatic leaps up the rungs.

IIRC he was the same age she is now when he was made GM of the jays.

I will continue to take the bait in order to prove my point

I'm haven't gone back in the thread very far, but just curious how the Giants interviewing a woman to be the manager triggered the whole trans thing. Like, how does one relate to the other at all??

You guys could use just a sliver of imagination. It would help you in a lot of ways.

We are aware of a lot of the things that only exist in your mind, connor.

These are all weak counters.

Anthopolous started in the mailroom, but he didn't jump over any rungs. Go look at his actual resume. He held basically every position up the ladder from the scouting side.

This woman has never even been a Manager in the minor leagues, nor has she held an on-field or bench coaching role at the MLB level. So what qualifies her to be one of the few that gets the serious opportunity to interview for literally the biggest role in the profession, at an age that is absurdly below the norm for the position we are talking about? That would be like Anthopolous getting promoted from regional scout to GM - it didn't happen and it doesn't happen.

What's funny is that the Giants were below average league wide in base running this past season. So not only does she clearly not possess the qualifications when compared to her peers who normally interview for MLB Manager jobs, but also her primary coaching involvement wasn't even noteworthy.

If the Jays were to fire Schneider tomorrow, do you think that nameless Asian guy who's always on the phone in the dugout would get a crack at interviewing for the job?

You are trying to come up with a rational answer, but you inherently know what the true motivation is. It's San Francisco, after all.

Also, not trying to snarky, but LMAO at the idea of a 33 year old former softball player being the "best communicator" to handle what will be a roster with like 50%+ Latin American players. Did you type that with a straight face?

Hey, maybe it was just a crafty way to get some free press and gain inroads in a major demographic.

I long ago stopped questioning the motivations of private businesses. It's all bottom line driven. Whether the interview is mainly for marketing purposes, or because she is seen as a viable candidate, who knows and who cares.

Maybe it was a show of respect to a long-time valued employee that they think will help with retention.

Maybe they actually think she has a skill set that would make her a good candidate for the job, and feedback from players that they'd like playing for her.

Maybe they wanted to signal that they're an organization that is welcoming to skilled people, regardless of background or immutable characteristics

Maybe they wanted the good publicity that they're getting.

Maybe it was a psy-op to get Aubrey Huff to state publicly that he thinks women are too illogical to lead so they can continue not inviting him to team events.

Probably it was multiple things. But more importantly: who cares? They don't have a set number of people they're allowed to interview. Setting two hours aside costs them virtually nothing.

Everybody knows why it happened but they just won’t admit it

If nobody cares then why does it enter the MLB news cycle while the rest of the candidates do not?
