Chad Pinder released. Plays all over with a 114 career wRC+ against lefties. Lots of options out there, I hope we take the chance to add depth.

Keston Hiura is available too if we need an option off the bench for RHP. His splits are pretty extreme

Darin Ruf was DFA by the Mets, would qualify as a lefty masher with experience. Complete disaster defensively though so would only want him swinging and not doing anything else.

Career vs LHP wRC+ of 143, last season 116.

Just named 5th starter for the Cubs too. That slider is nasty

Yankees gave him up to get Scott Effross. They are probably wishing they'd dealt from elsewhere on their depth chart.

Morel being optioned by the Cubs is surprising, right?

Pretty surprising considering they also dealt away another bench candidate in Zach McKinstry, but it looks like both were beaten out by Luis Torrens and Miles Mastrobuoni for their finals roster spots in their eyes.

No room for him with the Hosmer, Rios, Mancini, and Wisdom around to handle 1B duties.

f***in Cardinals have a GEM on their hands with Walker. I knew he was big but man when he stands up he TOWERS above these guys.

I must say that I LOVE seeing guys like Volpe and Walker making teams out of spring training. It appears the adjustments to the CBA have helped clear the path for teams to start carrying top prospects when they are ready instead of playing games to manipulate service time - and that is GREAT for the game.

Man - the f***ing Cards are such a great organization.

I thought Cashman in the room when they gave Volpe the news was pretty cringe. That dude needs to take a step back and let the manager manage.

Nice to see Cleveland spending money. This guy is a stud. They get a player who's about as good as Lindor, much younger and now at a 1/3 of the cost (+ other players). Well done.

Yes the new CBA is worth it to the team if that player is good. For example, J Rod won Seattle an additional draft pick for ROY now if in the next 2 seasons he finishes in the top 5 MVP (Cy Young for pitchers) they get 2 more picks. A lot of people think its just the first year. Some motivation for the teams with a great player.

https://www.blessyouboys.com/2022/3/14/22973710/all-the-details-in-mlbs-new-collective-bargaining-agreement

Teams that promote a player to the opening day roster and keep him up for a full season will be eligible to receive up to three draft picks if the player finishes in the Top 3 in the Rookie of the Year voting or Top 5 in MVP/Cy Young voting before he is eligible for arbitration.

8th year club option 20M, so basically 8 years @16M AAV... that's team friendly mate.

Good for him. He'll probably be playing just about everyday considering what the Red Sox are rolling with this year.
