José Quintana Out Until At Least July Due To Rib Surgery

March 14th, 2023 at 2:15pm CST • By Darragh McDonald

March 14: Eppler today provided reporters with more information, including Anthony DiComo of MLB.com. Quintana will undergo bone graft surgery on his rib and isn’t expected back until July at the earliest.

I though the report was premature Billy?

Thats like a good news/bad news scenario.

Good news! You're our opening day starter! Congratz!

Bad news! You pitch for the Pirates

Oh and... racist.

I didn’t check out his ass enough to think of the gloves. I’ll retract a little bit

Lol dude has lost his marbles

Yeah this wont be the only time we hear people saying s*** like this. Its extremely unfortunate because the WBC is great fun and great for growing the sport globally.

Lets hope the owners aren’t thinking like this

Apparently MLB is going to be giving fans a more transparent look at the review process in some games this year.

From the press release:

In the 2022 MLB season, there were more than 1,400 replay reviews. Historically, the league's replay review was reliant on disparate technology and audio-only communication with umpires on the field, resulting in fans being disconnected from the decision-making process.

Beginning with the 2023 Season, the Crew Chief, the most senior member of the four-man umpire crew, will connect to the Zoom Replay Operations Center using Zoom's Contact Center solution during any replay review. During national broadcasts on MLB Network and Apple TV+, fans will also see the Zoom Replay Operations Center in action live during replay reviews and hear from an expert rules analyst who will discuss replay reviews with the broadcast team. MLB's goal with this new setup is to create a more transparent and engaging review process.

Sounds great, hard to see how this could be a bad thing

Morales was the guy for the Angels at home plate I think?

He missed 2 years and came back to play 10 more years, I don't think it messed with him as much as people think.

Who is left to really crack down on?

If they really wanted to put an end to ball tampering they would scan the ball between 1/2 innings. Wouldn't take any time at all. They tech is easily accessed.

I say juice the balls, and let pitchers use spider tack. Even trade.

105mph heat, 3500 rpm spin rates, 550 ft HR's and 120 mph exit rates. Someone will die for sure but s*** yah I would watch that.
