Below is a post I made on the MLB website. I felt I had to thank you Jay's fans more directly, however. In all candor, I should confess that I am a Yankee fan who remembers MarisÂ’ home run in 1961.

Got to give a shout out to those Toronto fans. A very gracious ovation and reaction to having witnessed history, despite the fact that it broke the tie during their own run up to the postseason. They even suffered patiently through the protracted on-field celebrations. Those Canuckleheads are a class act. Respect.

It was a special night. It's not every day you see someone move into a tie for 7th place. History.

How did it go down with the ball? I read, but didn’t see video, that a fan had a shot at it..and dropped it, or what? Imagine dropping a mill or two lol

Literally millions slipped through his fingers

I actually was also able to witness history in 2019 as I was lucky enough to be in attendance when Nick Castellanos hit his 58th double of the season, moving him in to sole possession for 10th place all time. Special moment.

It’s more complicated than that obviously. Many people considered 61 the “true record” still..

Get back to me when Judge hits 700 in a season, like Albert Pujols just did. Now that’s a REAL slugger

If he hits 3 more he will tie Sammy Sosa's 2nd best season ever. What a magical baseball moment tonight.

Well, before inter-league the AL and NL records probably meant more. It means a lot to a lot of people. AL Record, Yankees Record and possibly Clean Record. The 3rd is more controversial. I guess AL record is important to those of us who watched before 97.

Hack Wilson? Always knew that name. NL Record for a long time.

We joke but Judge may have the only "legit" HR record next to Maris

Who says Maris didn't roid up?

Maybe even Ruth used some kind of drug concoction to slightly tip the odds in his favour.

Didn't the Jays bullpen coach end up with the ball? I'm sure he makes a good salary - but not enough to just give up that ball for nothing. I guess he'd be breaking some unwritten rule/code or some ********. Hopefully Judge takes care of him somehow. Seems like something Judge would do.

I think Judge would have gotten applauded in any park (except Phillie) so I’m not buying the nice Canadian narrative.

Most historic game ever: David Wells throwing a perfect game with a hangover. Don't think we'll ever see another pitcher accomplish that in our lifetime!

Yeah he’d be shunned for sure. His wife said something about divorce, as he didn’t consult with her. Some will probably say in jest, but in a few months when they get in a fight about something else, that may bubble up.

The one fan on the railing blew it.

If he went all out and risked his body he'd have that ball. He played it like a normal regular season home run from some nobody batter.

It looks like it was inches from his glove.

I was wondering about protocol there. Like, if a reliever caught it, could they have tossed the ball to a staffer that makes like 60-70k, or would the team prevent any employee from selling the ball?

It's a good question. Again - I hope Judge takes care of the Jays coach in some appropriate manner.

Bro “swag” stuff doesn’t make up for at least a mil. Would go up depending on what other balls there were on the market idk can’t see the magical 61 number going for less than a million in todays age. Maybe double idk

Ive seen estimated values of the hypothetical 62n HR to be anywhere from 1-5 million. Who knows really? McGwires record breaker sold for about 3 million way back when, but is now valued far less. Whomever catches this ball should absolutely hold out for at least a few months, let the market heat up a bit and then sell.

You wouldn't give it back to Judge if you caught it?
