Right?!? What a f*** you to KC, lol.

I dunno. Playoff games are obviously different than four regular season games in July. I'm sure if KC wasn't terrible he'd probably have got the vax for them too.

Imagine getting paid to write about how irresponsible the Jays FO must be - or even to have a discussion about this on TV. f*** me.

Right man, it was so dumn.

If I was a KC fan I'd be pissed.

Whit Merrifield was basically a cult hero in Kansas City. So much so that the Royals Play By Play man refereed to Bobby Witt Jr. As Junior so they didn't confuse them.

When the news broke about the Royals 10 players be unvaccinated. The guy that got interviewed about it was actually Merrifield where to paraphrase basically said the Royals are going nowhere this year so he doesn't see the point. If he were to be traded to a contender he would reconsider his decision. That did not go over well with the fan base or the front office. And the relationship quickly soured from there. Would explain how they sent out without saying much of a word about despite him being there for a long time.

If I was paying someone millions of dollars, I’d expect them to care about winning and losing no matter how bad the team is.

nah their prospect stuff is amazing now

it competes with or exceeds any other publication

is it perfect? no of course not

What bothers me is how they keep insanely outdated prospect info at the top of well-established players’ pages.

Prospects TLDR: It's become more likely that Alcantara, who has elite arm strength, will end up as a dominant two-pitch reliever due to issues with his command and breaking ball efficacy.

Lol yeah I don't see the point in keeping the header after like 1 year of service time

Probably found the Saul Goodman of Kansas City doctors to squirt the shot into the air and fill out the vaccine card for him.

GO JAYS

A several number of athletes did, from what I've heard haha.

He at least got it in time so the team could maximize his trade value. And I doubt the KC FO even cared anyway. There's a reason some teams have 0 unvaxxed players, some have a few and others have loads of them. It's because the FO puts varying levels of pressure on their players to get it. In the Royals case, they aren't going anywhere so if anything it helps their tanking and also means that they don't have to pay their veterans for the series. Probably only saves them a couple hundred thousand but that pays for a low level advanced stats guy for a few years.

Atkins would have been fired if he traded for a player that couldn't play in TO. Hilarious that anyone actually thought this.

His responses to the vaxx questions were just odd but I guess he wanted Merrified to respond to that personally.

And maybe I missed something but did Merrified ever say he was vaccinated? Just heard him say he'd be joining the Jays in Toronto so no issues there. Maybe he got a medical exemption from being vaccinated due to other health concerns.

Merrifield in on record stating that he has bene vaccinated. It seems remarkably unlikely that the Canadian federal government would hand out an exemption for a professional athlete given how stringently the vaccine requirements have been handled.

When asked about Merrifield’s vaccination status following the trade, neither Blue Jays general manager Ross Atkins nor manager John Schneider divulged details, choosing to let Merrifield speak on it when he reported to the team.

So, on Thursday in Minneapolis, with Merrifield wearing his new Blue Jays threads, the question was asked.

Have you received the vaccine?

“Yeah,” Merrifield said.

Can you tell us when you had it just so we have a general timeline of when you will be able to come to Toronto?

“I’ll be in Toronto when the team gets to Toronto,” he said.

Where do you hear stuff like that?

I know an ex-MLB player who said there were some players who actually never got it, though have the papers. In the US and other countries, certain states don't use or require anything to be uploaded to apps like here in Canada. So it's a lot easier down south and in other countries than Canada.

As well, I know someone in media who told me some Blue Jays players were hesitant and didn't want to get it though they eventually got their shots before the season started.

As for other sports, there were news stories about some NFL players who got caught using fake cards at the beginning so they wouldn't forfeit salaries, go for extra testing etc. I'm sure there were athletes from other sports as well. Not saying every athlete did, though I'm sure there are several athletes across many different professional sports who never actually got the shots. Athletes have the money as well to access that type of service.

Evander Kane was caught with a fake vaccine card.

Yeah some athletes have got caught. It's not a majority of athletes in every professional league, though there are definitely some who have fake vaccine cards.

The vaccines are fake anyway. Just sugar water with some toxins so you feel bad and think it's working. smh

I can't believe some of you care that much whether he got the vaccine or not... Who cares, he will be playing in Toronto. That's all that should really matter.

I think most care because not getting it was what would've kept him from playing. It's all a moot point now though
