I think Atkins and maybe also Shapiro are learning what every other Jays gm learns eventually: this ownership and these fans would never tolerate a Rays style organization. Ruthlessness in terms of thinking of players as assets is often in direct opposition of using those same players for marketing purposes.

This is utter ********, and false.

Pulled directly out your butt, lol.

The only other explanation for their inability to manage assets properly is incompetence... But I don't think that's the whole story. I think the management of the Jays is given marching orders to always win now.

I dont view it as a particularly controversial point. The org has bare cupboards for a reason.

So now we move goal posts? I don't get it, not happy either but....

Moving goalposts?

My point isn't complicated. The management of this organization cannot properly maximize assets because they are under constant pressure to win now from ownership. It's easier to make bold decisions on players when nobody is paying attention.

Point taken, but that's not how I took your comment. Cheers.

All good. I probably didn't make my point clearly.

You did fine.

At this point, You just have to talk to him like you would talk to Antonio Brown.

Cue the 3rd post in a row where he calls me old despite being 10 years younger than him.

I assume yesterday's win was because Schneider made all the right moves

Of course.

He kept the f*** ups to a minimal and it helped tremendously.

Need an 'Extend John Schneider' Thread for when things go well.

Balance is important. Mr. Miyagi taught us this.

I found it funny that they decided to pinch run Espinal with KK and not Kirk. Clearly they had PTSD from that Friday game. Did they forget that Espinal was recovering from a leg injury??? Too funny

That was interesting to say the least. This seems to point to the baseball adage that a non-tying run "doesn't mean anything". I've always thought that this was incredibly dumb as if you don't score the other runs that precede the tying run, you have no shot to score the tying run in the first place.

Well yeah but you can somewhat assume that if the runner on first scores that the runner on second will too, right?

What scenarios are there where KK scores from first and Kirk doesn't from second? I'm sure there are some but they are remote, hence the non-tying runs not meaning anything is basically true. It being the 8th inning instead of the 9th makes it slightly less true as well as entering the 9th down one is better than being down two. But still, that was the inning to make things happen.

If anything, Kirk should be pinch running for other people with his blazing speed and ballet-like footwork.

Here's the best pen in baseball according to fWAR vs the Jays. The gap in fWAR is about 3 wins... but are they really all that different???

HR rate.... that's it.

Damn turns out giving up home runs is extremely bad.

All jokes aside that is interesting. What’s the league average home run rate?

HR/FB is usually around 10%

This appears to show that the Jays relievers have been victimized by quite a few home runs which barely left the park. I do find it a little confusing though. With Swanson in particular, he's shown to have given up 4 home runs in total. This system classifies 4 of them as doubters, as they would have only left in 1-7 parks. The part where I'm not following is that he's also classified as having 3 home runs that were mostly gone, as they would have left 8-29 parks. Then at the same time 1 of them was classified as a no doubter. I don't understand how a player can have allowed 4 home runs, all of which were classified as doubters, 3 of which as mostly gone, and 1 of which as a no doubter. Each home should only be classified once right?

I don't think its safe to assume anything with Kirk running the bases
