Hahahaha... :P

 

Mahle though is a better arm than Mitch White. Mahle has the potential to be a solid No. 2 or 3 in a rotation. 210 K's last season in 180 innings and is only 27 still.

I like what the Twins have done. Adding Mahle, Jorge Lopez, Sandy Leon and now Fulmer. Nothing flashy by any means, but definitely solid additions to fill out the rotation and bullpen.

 

And the funny thing is, the Twins don't even have the core Toronto has in place and are more banged up, yet these are the type of moves a team with Postseason aspirations should be making.

 

Well what about White, Bass, Pop and Merrifield? Surely those guys are comparable talent-wise to the 4 you mentioned? I'm not sure what the Twins gave up either but my guess is they gave up a lot more.

That he was about to be DFA'd like Banda to open up a 40 man spot for one of the acquired players and the Jays got what they could rather than DFA him.

 

You really think the Jays out here selling players to have enough cash to acquire someone?

I made that post before Toronto made those last minute deals at the deadline for Merrifield and White. As well, I said the Bass and Pop were solid adds for the Blue Jays.

 

Mahle is a significant improvement to this rotation if the Blue Jays were able to acquire him. He was a solid No. 2 or 3. Like you even said, would have been nice to add an impact arm like Rodon or Mahle or Cobb if the Jays could have.

Somebody else can stick him in their pen.

Sign him to a minor league deal and have him in Buffalo as insurance. Wouldn't be a bad idea. I would like to see a team give him a long look as a reliever. Think his stuff can play out there.

It's not surprising when you realize this is the franchise that is paying the Cardinals to employ their franchise stud and then used the savings to hand out an albatross to an inferior player. It's actually kind of amazing how bad they are at their jobs.

We should snap up Sanchez now that Stripling is going on the IL. Sanchez is better than Hatch or whoever other emergency starter is in the org.

 

It was a fail to not acquire a #4/5 starter at the deadline.

Yeah Sanchez is a guy that the club should be looking into for some rotation depth.

I'm well aware. White was not acquired to be a starter, but a swingman. SP depth was and remains a significant problem that Sanchez would help address.

 

Aaron Sanchez has a 6.00 FIP in AAA this year

 

He's not helping a competitive team with anything

 

probably worse than even Tommy Hatch
