Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 How do you not get one of the Yankee SS prospects if you're the A's lol Yankees still have plenty of bullets left
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Yankees assembling one of the greatest roster of all time. Meanwhile, we've got Ross "Sitting on his" ASS-kins. DO SOMETHING Huh? Their 1-9 isn't insane or anything, I still think they disappoint come playoff time.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 How do you not get one of the Yankee SS prospects if you're the A's lol Yankees still have plenty of bullets left The As continuously make terrible trades, and the Yankees are somehow consistently able to make trades without giving up any of their top guys. Its like their prospects are all overrated because pinstripes
Laika Community Moderator Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Huh? Their 1-9 isn't insane or anything, I still think they disappoint come playoff time. Issa joke
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 The A's are like that guy in your fantasy league who makes terrible trades all the time. I'd like to launch a veto campaign against their latest trade but we've gone to the well too many times to be that upset about it.

Dagagad Verified Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 It would have been nice if the yanks had given up more but I’m not afraid of montas at all.
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 LMAO this thread. Trade deadline is tomorrow, so everyone relax. You know the Yankees were going to acquire talent at the trade deadline. Stop acting surprised and shocked. Also, because of Canada's strict COVID policy, who knows if someone like Scott Effross was even someone the Jays could target. There are still a lot of big names out there like Rodon, Cobb, Kelly as starters, and some solid BP arms available as well. Atkins has been active at the trade deadlines the past two seasons, so I'm not worried about the Blue Jays standing pat.
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 It would have been nice if the yanks had given up more but I’m not afraid of montas at all. It's similar to the Benitendi trade in that it doesn't really raise the bar all that much over what they already had. Montas the new #3 come playoff time and the #4 is between Montgomery or Taillon.
PhillyBlueJay Verified Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Soooooooo are we going to do literally anything ? Something is brewing with a few teams. Playoff Teams who have as of yet not consummated a trade: Jays Rays Twins Mets Dodgers we know the Twins and Rays will never give up a ton of prospects for Soto... This leaves the Jays, Dodgers, and Mets. If I was a betting man it has come down to the Jays and Dodgers and the Dodgers will ALWAYS OUT TRUMP everyone else in a bidding war!

Yes it doesn't raise the bar much in terms of the Yankees most recent acquisitions agreed, though makes their roster a lot deeper in case injuries happen and also keeps an arm like Montas away from the Blue Jays or another contender.

jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Are the Orioles selling or buying? I know they moved Mancini to the Astros, though wonder if that means guys like Lopez, Lyles, Tate are available.

Omar Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Author Posted August 1, 2022 I think it has become apparent that the Jays are looking for a starter. I would bet that they are in on at least one of Rodon or Montas. The only problem I see here is that the Yankess wanted Castillo and are now going to go hard on Montas driving the already inflated market up (thanks M's). I think Atkins wants to close on a starter before consumating a deal for bullpen help which is why we have yet to hear about a move. If NYY get Montas (they seem willing to overpay) , and Rodon is not available Atkins will move quickly on solidifying the pen with the deals he already has in place ready to go with a LH bat as a chaser. Pick your poison at this point. Alright, so let's get Rodon, a lefty bat and shore up that pen. Right?
MON4NHLTOR4MLB Verified Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 People shat on my for my “over reaction” but like I said, we’re going to have yet ANOTHER underwhelming deadline that won’t fix anything and if we make the playoffs it’ll be a short and quick exit. Hate the Yanks always getting everything!

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Risk adverse RISK ADVERSE-KINS ROSS SITTING ON HIS ATKINS ROSS ATKINS DIET (because he treats trades like someone on the Atkins diet treats carbs) Am I missing any others? Or should we wait until the trade deadline is still over 24 hours away?
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted August 1, 2022 Posted August 1, 2022 Thought you had Cole and Severino (if he comes back which looks likely) as #1 and #2. Put the names in a hat and draw them idc. Bottom line is Montas is not much better than what they've already got. The only thing I'm really bummed about is that Ross didn't have the AAA reliever prospects that tickled Billy Beane's fancy.
