Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2022 Author Posted June 25, 2022 Ughh... good fight. Win it tomorrow Birds!
Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Man, we aren’t getting a lot of luck in these types of games recently. I will say, 4 runs against that pitching was pretty good. We are hitting.
Omar Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Well we made it close, but Hader is Rembrandt up there.
Solaxys Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Was a good fun fight! f*** you Kikuchi & Bo.
jaysguy44 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 He's garbage, but it's funny how people are solely blaming Kikuchi for this one... He shouldn't have had to get 4 outs in that inning where they scored 3 runs.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 So theoretically speaking, we win today if Bo doesn't commit that error.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Bo would only be worth a long term deal at second base. Might as well break it to him this off season Shatkins.

G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Damn we tried. Had a chance against Burnes and Hader....

Eat My Shatkins Verified Member Posted June 25, 2022 Posted June 25, 2022 Kind of sick of Bo and his sub par defense, especially true when he's only bringing a barely above league average bat. If Correa opts out of his contract next off season the Jays need to quit f***ing around go hard after him. If Bo doesn't want to move off short then he can be a trade chip IMO.

I think playing a position that he isn’t really good enough to play might be hurting him as well honestly. I don’t know why we don’t just play Espinal there now at least a few times a week. Give him a few days at an easier position. We don’t need to appease him and he’s not really the kind of player that you want to give an early extension to.

Since when is Bo’s defense sub-par? It’s not elite sure, but he’s no ham fisted butcher. Yeah, he’s gonna sail a throw or two every once in a while, but he’s still a decent defensive SS. Also, he’ll probably be closer to his career 120 wrc+ by the end of the season than he is to league average with the bat. Horrendous April is behind him.

I am not sure how valid the Fangraphs overall defensive value number is but: in 50044 PA worth of playing time, Xander Bogaerts has a total of +10.4 in 1342 PA worth of playing time, Bo Bichette has a total defensive value of +1.2. I use Bogaerts as a comparison since he is generally regarded to be a mediocre defender at SS (especially being limited in range) and has been able to remain there due to his bat and his overall status as a vetrin presenz on the team.

Yeah, sub par wasn't a good description, my bad. Very mediocre is more appropriate I guess. Leaves me wanting more, especially with his unspectacular offense this season.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2022 Author Posted June 26, 2022 Bo and his T-Rex arms are sub par at SS There he is, lol.
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 There he is, lol. I mean his last 3 or 4 games aside from the last AB today have been extra bad. I mean the loss was directly on his short arm crappy throw and he almost blew it on a shovel to 2nd in the 9th yesterday. Like WTF, these are routine plays, not trying to make hard plays. Thats just crap defense
Daniel Labude Jays Centre Contributor Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Objectively he isnt a good SS. Can he be....yes he can. Dude needs to focus out there i think

That's a pretty brutal, but when they have Bogaerts (who I referred to in my previous post as being historically mediocre) in 3rd place, one wonders about the validity of this ranking....... One thing you have to give Bogey is that he is sure-handed like a Cal Ripken and unlike Bichette.

I don't like them one iota, especially after seeing their numbers on Alomar.
Dagagad Verified Member Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 I’d say eye test and analytically he’s not great at short stop. The question is does he have the potential to be average there (it would be valuable to have his bat at short stop over the length of his contract) and can we afford to wait? There just anything to say he is even average there right now imo.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted June 26, 2022 Posted June 26, 2022 Didn’t watch today, but looked like a good fight they put up. Kikuchi put them in a hole early and Bo did not help him at all. I see Thornton and Castillo both pitched well, good for them. Offense managed to score 4 runs against the best pitching the Brewers have, and some of the best arms in the league. Not bad. Sucks to lose by 1 yet again but I guess this is the scale balancing after all those wins early in the year.

He’ll need practice there. It has to be an offseason decision. We saw what happens with guy playing out of position on short notice, Vlad with 1B and Biggio with 3B. Good chance Bo is a disaster at 2B if you just plop him there.
Arjun Nimmala Vancouver Canadians - A+ SS It's been slow going at the start of the season for Nimmala, but on Sunday, he was 3-for-5 with his 3rd home run and 3 RBI. Explore Arjun Nimmala News >
