Atkins’ model of building a pen would make sense if he had the Yankees or Rays type of success rate with it, but he might need to start investing real money into it at some point, which admittedly comes with its own risks considering how volatile relievers are. To have this issue of lack of swing and miss and average velocity in the bullpen again after last season is not good. Meanwhile the Yankees can call up anyone to pitch in their pen and have them miss bats.

These umps really are in a position of privilege. Imagine the world we'd live in if the vast majority of people were to blatantly screw up their job dozens of times over in one night.

That was a complete embarrassment behind the plate last night, they should face discipline when they f*** up that bad.

Good on Walker for finally blowing his lid, was waiting for our skipper to show a pulse.

Anyone have the ump scorecard for this one?

*NEW SEASON HIGH*

Umpire Doug Eddings missed a season high 29 calls in the #BlueJays #WhiteSox game for a correct call rate of 86.2%. This included 6 blown strikeouts.

Oof... I fell asleep the Jays were up 4-2(should've been 5-2... F U UMP) going into the bottom of the 8th. Just caught up, what a tough f***ing loss, that's all on Romano, gotta throw strikes up two runs, man. *smh* Kind of wish Zimmer hadn't saved the game on that diving snag, lol... had to burn through arms to end up losing. :P

Gausman pitched very well in a pitching duel with Cease, Cimber and Garcia did their jobs, Gage was good again, offense showed up, than the dagger by Romano. The ghost runner extra innings was meh, we had are chances, 2 key running mistakes, don't f***ing bunt when you're the road team Chuckles, gawd. All while having to watch that abomination behind the plate Doug Eddings.

That was rough!!!

ETA: Luis Robert is good at beisbol, f*** that guy! lol

The Bosox/Twins/Indians and Rays all nipping on the Jays heels, the pitching needs to stop scuffling like right now, please. Baseball is so disturbing on regression from players on both sides of the plate through a season, mind numbing, it would be just great if they can get shooting on all cylinders. FAAAAWK... end meltdown.

The Jays are like that classic car that you see driving down the street. Looks amazing on the outside, but inside there’s always something that isn’t working right causing it to sputter. Yesterday was the pen, day before was the SP…offense is completely hit or miss right now….

Some of the called strikes that Cease was getting earlier in the game were insane. Insane.

I wonder how even the f*** ups ended up being.

That's the prior game

looks like umpire scorecards run like 36 hours behind

I think John just copy/pasta'd the wrong tweet number. It was truly an abomination, almost 6 runs...lol

Man f*** that ump, jfc.

We got f***ed twice extremely hard in two separate games and there's just no repercussions. What is this logic, why do the umps not have QC?

Robo umps better be a thing in 2023. At least if the technology messes up, it can be fixed. You can't fix human bias (or in this case, gross incompetence).

I feel like its a critical change in todays game with the V and the knowledge the strike zone diagram being visible has given viewers (a good thing - I don't blame the victim here).

I'm not one for the "human element" behind the plate for the glory and nostalgia of the ol' game. I'm also not one for "just give me a consistent call on a zone whatever it is". The strike zone is what it is, regardless of the umpire and ump shows.

I also feel like I cant be hypocritical on the impact it will have on C pitch framers AKA using human error/bias skillfully to steal strikes that are balls or ensure borderline get called. Thats a skill that can go with the Dodo bird too as far as I'm concerned.

Clear, consistent and equal/fair for both teams trumps it all.

I think a taser shot in the ass every time they make a wrong call should fix the problem

He's going to sue the MLB because they are making fun of him.
