Why wouldn’t you get Nate in a game here against Balti and see what he’s got. Could’ve been a great add for post season. Can’t be worse than Merryweather. I’d rather see Floyd pitch than Julien

I am so happy that Schneider is in charge now. To imagine CM running this team in this critical time would be infuriating.

Yeah he doesn’t make near as many wtf moves

Looks like Nate isn't gonna be here; next year it is.

Don't be surprised to see White optioned right after his start for Lawrence.

God, so happy we get to rest mostly everyone instead of running them out in the damned rain, possibly getting injured.

Rest day tomorrow, play the guys on Wednesday??

I wonder if they even bother making up the game now if there’s a rainout tomorrow

Think we prolly just run half regulars-half bench each game and sub out all regulars if field gets too wet.

If tomorrow is rained-out, I hope they cancel it; play one game on Wed or play two 7-inning games or something

No point in playing a double header Wednesday now assuming tomorrow is rained out. Hoping they just play a single game Wednesday.

The next two games are the perfect example of why I miss not having the entire man roster available in September/Oct. It means that some of the regulars will have to take the field at some point. Remember back in 2015 at Baltimore when the Jays clinched the AL East in the first game of the double, the bench was emptied for the night cap,

Next couple will be interesting. Some of our guys are rolling and some scuffling. A couple reps at the plate won't hurt. Espy and LGJ, if they can, need reps and some at bats. Whoever really needs and wants a day off take it. Nice job. Thought we could win the Division but top wildcard seed at home is the next best thing. Got to hand it to the boys. They ground this out.

Kurkjian and Mendoza. Wonderful.

We get Buck and Tabby, actually. Seattle gets that awful crew.

I heard Rogers may be doing their own broadcast this year, so that might be worth watching instead lol

Wondering if they even get in the remaining two games with the weather the way it is right now in Baltimore. We’ve clinched Wild Card 1 and our games effectively don’t matter for the AL bracket. The only scenario where the games matter for us is home field advantage if we meet the Cardinals in the World Series. Cards are up 0.5 games on us.

Just my opinion, putting on my manager's hat, but I rest absolutely everyone who can be rested on Tuesday. I'm talking a disgusting starting OF of Tapia, Zimmer, Bradley. Moreno at C. DH whoever is in a funk. Let all the regulars start for a couple of AB on Wednesday so that they keep their game timing with the off day. Substitute like crazy in the later innings.

For relievers, I would pitch all of the high leverage guys for one inning on Tuesday only in case they need to be abused for the WC series (e.g., Romano three days in a row). They should be throwing darts in Game 1.

For Wednesday, I would option Pop and White and piece together 9 innings using Kikuchi, Lawrence, Merryweather, and possibly Richards/Phelps.

Hot take, but I want Manoah pitching like 1 inning on Wednesday. Extra rest is good for a power pitcher, but multiple extra days can add rust.

Good point. They likely would do a doubleheader on Wednesday if tonight is rained out. But I doubt they would force the Blue Jays to play on Thursday unless it was a meaningful game. That would suck.

Doubleheader on Wednesday wouldn't be bad. They would get an extra roster spot correct? Also, only 7 innings, so let both White and Kikuchi start and let them throw 100 or so pitches to rest the pen. I would be more worried about playing conditions for the positional players. Wouldn't want anyone getting injured on a wet field.

If they option guys - don't they have to stay in the minors for 10 days minimum (unless there's a ton of phantom injuries)?

They should just forfeit the game.

Interesting stat I just uncovered:

Berrios has given up at least 1 earned run in EVERY single start going all the way back to mid-May. YIKES.

The last time Berrios gave up 0 runs? He pitched 7 shutout innings vs the Mariners.

Forfeits are the Bogeyman in baseball. I've been a big advocate of them in blowout games. But instead, managers throw out valuable relievers or position players and make a complete mockery of the game instead. This is another type of instance in which a forfeit is warranted. The only thing I would ensure however is that you announce that you will forfeit well ahead of time so that all 420 fans in Baltimore know not to show up.

I think they absolutely do this.

In the last two days we will see this lineup:

Zimmer RF

Bradley Jr . CF

Tapia LF

Moreno C

Biggio 1B

Lopez SS

Merrifield 2B

a pylon at 3B

a volunteer at DH

Nobody available to pitch other than White, Kikuchi, and a couple relievers who need work

I think we had this discussion a few weeks ago, not sure if it was with you or someone else. However you can't forfeit games. Fans pay, players are going for milestones and goals, every team is developing their players.

I can see cancelling one of these games, given it's the last day of the season, but forfeiting one? If it comes to that they need to expand rosters a bit more intead.

Would love to see Otto Lopen, Moreno the next couple days. You may need ABs for Espinal/Gurriel. Would love to see Vlad even pinch hit if they get runners on and try to get 100 rbis. Hell would love to see Vinnie Capra, or what about Barger? Pearson? Give Kikuchi 7 innings to work on his crap for next year. Same with Mitch White.

There are plenty of things to do with baseball 'garbage time' and it should never come to forfeit, need to revamp roster rules if people are even close to thinnking forfeits are a good idea.
