Sorrow Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 If Jansen is catching White. White has pitched well to Jansen and has been horrendous with Kirk.

Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Manoah vs Kremer is a Jays advantage, but this guy can pitch.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Spanky I'll see if I can track it down. But before today's start his ERA with Jansen was in the 3.4 range and over 12 with Kirk.

BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Weird game last night. Jays 4/14 with RISP. (Teo and Vlad 0/10 with 3 Ks and leave 9 runners on base - this can't happen) Bo stays smoldering hot. wRC+ 122. Chappy a couple key knocks. White has sucked. Kooch was Kooch. Richards looked like most of Richards this season. Bass filthy again. Yimi nails. Nelson remains as always a complete f***ing idiot - still needs to be the center of attention. Really need a W today! Lets go Jays!
glory Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Gun to your head you have to give White or Kikuchi 5 more starts this season and you have to let them go 5 times no backing out Who do you pick White has been bad in terms of ERA, but has a 3.82 FIP since joining the Jays (8.17 ERA). I'd probably bet on him being a more serviceable #5 starter down the stretch than Kikuchi who has been absolute s*** all season.
Sorrow Verified Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 It's a super small size Jim but he was serviceable with the Dodgers, serviceable with Jansen and has been s*** with Kirk. Who knows if it's game calling, regression or what but he shouldn't be throwing to Kirk.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 White > Kikuchi Probably yeah
G-Snarls Community Moderator Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 I'll begrudgingly go with White down the stretch Barring injury I'm hopeful that neither of them is needed on the post season roster
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 White hasn't been that bad. A .380 BABIP and a LOB% around 50 is almost doubling his ERA compared to the estimators.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Chicken Strip got hit hard when he first came to TO and was getting a lot of flack on here. White has the ingredients to be a valuable pitcher. White > Kikuchi
Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 Can someone explain to me what the hell the point of the Whit Merrifield trade was? I liked it at the time because I thought it gave us a season and a half of a versatile 2 WAR player. But they barely play the dude and they gave up what little pitching depth they had to get him.

It feels like there was another trade that didn't go through at the deadline that would open up a spot for Merrifield. Him sitting on the bench most of the time doesn't make sense.

I would guess it was extra insurance for CF in case Springer wasn’t able to CF as much. Probably they were thinking about a Merrifield/Tapia platoon if needed. Also he’s cheap next year and there’s a decent chance he bounces back with the bat and is a good 9th man/bench piece. I don’t think they expected him to be this bad, his underlying metrics were still good at the time of the trade I believe

Craig Biggio's son is also playing well so hard to sit him in favor of Whit too.

They seem to prefer JBJ over Merrifield right now, which I don't really understand. That said, he's good depth to have on a playoff bound team. He was obviously insurance for Springer in CF. Would I have preferred to give up someone other than Max? Yes, probably as he was good SP depth at the time.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 That whole thread is worth a read. Bryan Baker is a CLOWN.

Terminator Old-Timey Member Posted September 7, 2022 Posted September 7, 2022 As far as the Sheriff's shitlist is concerned he's quickly closing in on Ratface Odor and Jeff Bannister with antics like that. Got to love marginal talent like this making a big scene over god knows what.
