I had heard the Mets were the front runners for his services.

Nah, noone is... he'll be throwing a showcase at some point this month when he's ready, there'll be plenty of interest I'm sure from a lot of teams. He's been Mr. Glass of late, so shouldn't be too expensive.

He looked like the normal Romano. I think that blown game was more rust than anything, I hope.

It was reported that he was having issues with gripping the baseballs in the blown save in New York.

This is great to see.

Very encouraging. I remember reading somewhere that his profile was very similar to Ray before the Jays acquired him, the upside is there for sure.

It'll be fun when Berrios/Gausman/Manoah/Kikuchi are all in the groove at the same time, maybe even Ryu can find his groove again too. This team will go on some nice runs if/when that happens.

FUN FACT; Blue Jays starting rotation is the number 1 rotation in MLB

If Ryu is at all OK we actually probably have 6 legit starting pitchers

Not many teams can say that...

Hopefully we can steamroll some of these shittier teams and get the bats going

That's awesome, and with Berrios struggling and Ryu terrible to start.

Best in MLB with room for improvement?! I like that a lot.

The self-proclaimed "Day 1 Kikuchi Haters" are nowhere to be found! Must be hanging out with the Greg Bird stans in Scranton, PA! LMAO

Yeah we knew the rotation was going to be solid going into this season. And we knew the bullpen was going to be potentially problematic.

April was a mirage and casuals like JF54 were trying to say the rotation was crap.

Manoah and Gausman have been betting than expected, Berrios and Ryu worse than expected, ans Kikuchi about as expected. Stripling was great in his short stint with Ryu on the DL.

I expect Gausman to regress a bit like he did 2nd half last year, Berrios should get a lot better and Ryu is going to hold his own. Kikuchi looks promising his last few starts. Manoah has continued his great performance from last season, though I’m not sure I expect him to keep this pace.

Offense will definitely be better going forward. Easier schedule too. This will be a fun and competitive summer.

He probably will and its because of how much stress his finger goes through whenever he tosses that splitter. I read somewhere that there is a lot of medical management on that finger after every start.

So as he goes through the year, I presume, it'll become more uncomfortable to throw the splitter.

Do you have link for this? Seems odd it would affect one finger when it kind of slips between the index and middle finger. I've thrown a splitter for 15 years and never had an issue....now I don't quite throw it as hard as Gausman...

It was mentioned once on air by Dan. This article covers some of it: https://www.si.com/mlb/bluejays/analysis/blue-jays-kevin-gausman-splitter-blisters

Kikuchi reminds me a lot of Ted Lilly. I think he can give the Jays the 2004 and 2006 Ted Lilly over the duration of his contract.

Omar posted the first picture of four in the other thread, but this is a masterpiece - especially Chapman's expression in the 4th:

You just can't teach instincts and reaction time like that. This is why Chapman is such a rock at the hot corner.

I can't see it, Kooch doesn't look like a fighting type.

He also doesn't look like he's constantly about to burst into tears. Ted Lilly has resting "I'm about to bawl my eyes out" face.

Remember during the 2006/2007 offseason, Ted Lilly and Gil Meche were the top FA arms haha. JP wanted to sign both of them.

Ted Lilly went on to have a solid career with the Cubs and Dodgers actually. Smart move going to the NL.

Meche was actually solid his first two seasons in KC, and afterwards he became trash.

Can't blame Gibby for taking a shot. He's emminently punchable.

I was at that game haha. Lilly wanted to get through 5 innings to get the win. He had a huge lead and was giving it right back. Wanted those W's since he was becoming a FA.
