Laika Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Hit the ball so hard Steven Kwan was STUNNED
Laika Community Moderator Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 When The Rocket hits a barrel right at you and starts sprinting out of the box with his dreads flying everywhere, all you can do is fall to your knees.

Exactly! Imagine a soft liner heading right toward you and then the ball starts knuckling and then you’ve got a women’s softball player/giraffe/The Predator all rolled into one starts flying out of the box. Imagine the panic one must feel as Rocket makes the turn toward second and his helmet flies off and his dreads start flapping in the wind. I would want no part of that and I don’t blame Kwan one bit
jaysblue Old-Timey Member Posted May 7, 2022 Posted May 7, 2022 Honestly, at this point there's zero justification for not DFAing Zimmer. He's been so much worse than anyone could have expected, and there's almost no chance any team would claim him after this putrid display. You would think the Jays could have picked up a better 4th or 5th outfielder off free agency or via trade this offseason.

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Do we know what's happening with Biggio? Is he just a lost cause at this point? I would have rather seen Biggio suck at the plate than watch Zimmer.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 8, 2022 Posted May 8, 2022 Yeah the change in approaches by hitters definitely also had a lot to do with the rapid increases in stuff and changes in pitching practices. Definitely. You can see this with guys like Kevin Pillar who are bad hitters with good hit tools - they make too much contact and the stuff is too good now that more often than not that means terrible/weak contact. Imagine if Kevin Pillar had the discipline to swing way less. He probably would have been Alex Bregman. He has as much or more raw power than Bregman, that's not a joke, look at max EV for both of them. So if Kevin Pillar simply swinging less would = him being a way better hitter, that helps illustrate the idea that in general swinging less = better results for hitters if we are in a league where pitchers have great stuff and when you happen to square up a ball it tends to go over the wall. Are the Blue Jays swinging more or less than last year? Last two games have been a nightmare. Should the Blue Jays as at team be swinging more or less than they are this year? Last two games the last 7 or 8 innings of each seemed to be a nightmare of swinging too much...
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Injury Report Eligible to return on Sat May 14 - 10-day IL. May 8, 7:56 PM EDT EDT Ryu (forearm) may be ready to return from the 10-day injured list to start Saturday at Tampa Bay, Arden Zwelling of Sportsnet.ca reports. Analysis Though he's been on the shelf since April 17 with left forearm inflammation, Ryu looks like he could be cleared to come off the IL after just one rehab start in the minors. He reported to Triple-A Buffalo on Saturday and covered four innings (74 pitches) in his start, striking out six while giving up two runs on five hits and no walks. The Blue Jays will likely see how he fares during a bullpen session Monday or Tuesday before deciding if his next start will be at the big-league level or at Triple-A.
BigCecil Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Baseball. CLE. f***. The 1 game I thought we would probably struggle vs Beiber we W. lose 3. I like 1 run games a lot more when we win them. Oh well. Day off and then right back at it.
Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 Was it even confirmed he had Covid lol. It was a pretty vague announcement, that he had “symptoms”..lol They said he had a non covid illness and he's pretty much disappeared from the team. Even if ive never been a bug fan, he was supposed to be a bit part of our bench depth.

In the meantime they may be exploring trades for RP instead of putting him in AAA and having his already sinking value plummet to nothing when he struggles there
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 At the very least you can say his situation is objectively weird at this point

I think he's likely on a massive cocaine bender right now. Or maybe he's joined a Satanic cult and is busy sacrificing goats. Or perhaps he was secretly whisked away to a secret underground terrorist prison because he was the leader of a terrorist organization. You're going more and more overboard with the Biggio hated lately. The poor bastard can't even potentially come down with a covid infection without drawing your ire. It's at the point where it's like you're being mind controlled by Keith Law or something.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted May 9, 2022 Posted May 9, 2022 With the way he was playing I wouldn't be surprised if the team comes out and announces that he has late stage AIDS Why on earth would you think that? I know you are half kidding, but if you are looking for a medical reason for him under-performing long Covid would be the most likely. They've scanned people's brains after Covid and many have some damage. Seems like he could be suffering from brain fog and impaired reflexes from Covid, and that's why they are being vague. Not a current Covid infection but an effect from previous infection.
