max silver Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 He's really making my call that Manoah would be this team's best pitcher look bad Also lol at Gausman versus Manoah's ERA versus FIP. All four numbers are good and low just that Manoah is way overperforming his FIP and Gausman is underperforming his. 0 BB 41 K not even Arencibia could put up a ratio like that. Manoah has outperformed Gausman by both ERA and xERA so your Manoah best Jays pitcher prediction hasn't been totally blown out of the water yet.
John_Havok Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Was just reading an article on fangraphs about swing decisions in 2021. Out of 424 players on the list, Bo Bichette is #402 and Rocket Raimel is #396. Top Jays? Biggio at #16, Danny Jansen at #25. Semien was 45 and current Jay Matt Chapman was 65. Full article here: https://blogs.fangraphs.com/who-makes-the-best-swing-decisions-in-baseball/ For reference on the zones they refer to in the article, check baseballsavant, click on Visuals, and then Swing Take Visuals to see the heart, Shadow, Chase and Waste zones referred to. Then, whatever you do, DO NOT search for Bo Bichette unless you haven't cried yet today.
gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 We need Stripling in the pen whenever Ryu starts. That way he can come into the game in the 3rd inning after Ryu gets knocked around. All part of the plan. If Stripling pitches well again tonight, he'll earn a continued starting role, even when Ryu is back imo. Stripling deserves to battle with a 0-0 score out of the shoot instead of trying to mitigate the damage created by Ryu. Let Strip compete ffs.

gruber92 Old-Timey Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Stripling "open" and Ryu jump in after 3-5 innings? Much better, Ryu can go once through the order and bridge us to the later innings hopefully.

infinitebook Verified Member Posted May 2, 2022 Posted May 2, 2022 Bichette has homered off Montgomery twice in only 10 appearances, I think he builds off last game and has another big one tonight.

Why? The problem is not getting runners into scoring position at all. Why give away outs to solve a problem that doesn’t exist?

Krylian Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Bunting is dumb. Universally dumb. Even if you can do it and decide to throw it down against a shift, basically guaranteeing a base runner?
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Even if you can do it and decide to throw it down against a shift, basically guaranteeing a base runner? Sacrifice bunting is dumb
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Even if you can do it and decide to throw it down against a shift, basically guaranteeing a base runner? That's a big, big if.
Brownie19 Old-Timey Member Posted May 3, 2022 Posted May 3, 2022 Even if you can do it and decide to throw it down against a shift, basically guaranteeing a base runner? If anyone is baseball (who gets shifted on regularly) could do this consistently - they would.
