They didn't want to pay Edwin 20 mil. a year and gave 18 to Bats instead to be pathetic. But look another name caller :D Your view of your buddies ahole is 20/20 every night I bet eh?

Matt Chapman struck out tonight. Go off!

This is really bad timing too, because last year he missed the Houston series due to injury and he probably had it circled on his calendar again this year.

I’m almost certain he’ll push management to let him start Saturday or Sunday even if he can barely swing.

Lets hope he’s still just sore from the HBP and good to go Saturday/Sunday and that he doesn’t injure himself further.

Yeah, the Jays were saying forearm contusion, but Springer said wrist injury to BNS, oops. :P

Bullpen looks really quite good overall

The infield defense is excellent

Espinal looks like a solid everyday 2B

Biggio pretty much the utility guy at this point

My biggest worries are Ryu's ongoing performance and Springer's health

Another name caller, I take it the average age on this board is about 16 or are there just a bunch of internet tough guys here who would never call another man any of those things in public

Anytime anywhere idiot. I’m 6’6 and 300 pounds. I’ll rip your f***in head off and s*** down your neck

You're just further proving my point tough guy, keep spewing off on the internet your buddies here are all real impressed

Jays are 9-5, best in the AL, have been winning close games and just won a game where the team's win probability heading into it will probably be the lowest we see all year. And this goof is still finding a way to try to make this board an unpleasant toilet.

CY Stripling vs Grandpa Verlander, of course the Jays were gonna win

You called out the tough guy. The tough guys answers and now you’re backing away like a bitch. Typical mouthpiece. All talk until he gets into trouble than tucks his dick and runs away, while pretending he’s the upstanding citizen.

You’re a joke. Do the baseball world a favour and take up knitting.

Your new name is Richard Tucker.

This is your response to being thoroughly demolished with receipts.

Your self-awareness is staggering.

I wish we could meet up at a game and confront this guy. I can picture the urine running down his leg as a pair of 6'6 guys stare him down.

I'm actually kinda surprised JF54 is still allowed to troll around here. It's clear he's just trying to anger the community. When it gets to the point where a physical altercation is being propositioned things have gone too far.

I don't personally consider trolling to be a banable offence. So I won't ban him (unless he delves into areas I think are fully offside), but the other mods have already given him a time-out this year.

Also, nobody is seriously considering physical altercations. Well, none of the sane people who knows what JF54 actually thinks.

I always kinda pictured you as maybe 5'6".

I had a crazy dream last night. I was watching a Jays pregame ceremony on tv and for some odd reason there were a few live bears on the field during the ceremony. All seemed fine and dandy at first, there was even a cute bit where Cavan Biggio appeared to be dancing with one of the bears as the bear was standing on it's back legs and they were hand in paw. Things went seriously awry as something ended up spooking the bear and it ended up mauling Cavan repeatedly. I jolted awake and couldn't manage to drift back off to sleep afterwards.

This dream must be an allegory of sorts where the bear in real life is represented by Santiago Espinal. Much like the bear dancing routine in my dream there is a seeming harmony of sorts as Biggio and Espinal are teammates and would be supportive of each other and cheering each other on. But just as Cavan is ravaged in my dream he's also been destroyed on the field as Espinal has taken his job away, both at third base last season and at second base this season.

I will definitely ban him some day, when I am in a bad mood

Only 10% of the season gone and reluctantly have to say Espy has earned for now anyway the 2B job. For his D alone almost. I like the EV & hard hit rate increase he is showing. He just gives me so much confidence he is going to make almost every routine play and a lot of the touch chances. I can live with his current 85 wRC+ with plus D in the line up we have.

Have high hopes for Cavan looking back on his 19 and 20 seasons and I think we badly need plus LH bats in the line up, but he is never going to be as good on D and the league just keeping beating him at the plate. Its early and lots of time to rebound but I do agree that Espy has been good enough that Biggio will have to earn the looks he gets now.

Grant is on the sknny side though. I figure i could probably swing him as a bat. We'll get him a nice helmet to protect his brain (scientists are needed) and see what happens.

Espinal has been a revelation. Incredible get by the brass for Steve Pearce.

A guy like this is essentially found money. There have been plenty of instances like this where the front office has plucked unpolished gems out of other organizations for spare parts and then helped them to flourish and reach their full potential. Receiving Cimber back for the wilting corpse of Joe Panik was a masterstroke, as was the Teoscar trade. Even Tapia might turn into something useful as he's producing career best rates in barrel percentage, expected batting average, xWOBA, hard hit percentage etc. It remains to be seen whether it's just a hot streak or a sign of actual improvement but he's certainly been squaring up the baseball with far more regularity in the last week or so.

I agree with him being a PLUS defender at 2nd, and if you put him against Semien who won the gold glove. He is hands down better than Semein. Story is now added to 2nd base list and I say Espy is better. I think we are seeing a gold glover in the making. The more he plays the better he seems to get.

Also his bat is playin well and drivin the ball more, so that job is his. I dont feel bad for Biggio as I think he will get enough reps in and be very nice coming off the bench.

The FO did do a great job not only turning Steve Pearce into Espy, but also bringing in guys like Semien, Chapman, Springer who work hard everyday at their craft. Now Bo and Espinal are reporting early for work and it is clearly showing on the field.

Face the hard facts. Yes some of the underlying stuff under the hood is encouraging with Espy, however, he’s hardly run away with the job. It’s about Biggio being viewed by the team as AAAA fodder more than anything else

Agree with all of this. I want Biggio to succeed and I think he can still be good, but Espy is playing out of his mind right now and you can’t take the starting job away from him.

I do think Biggio should be getting more reps in the OF though. (he should be playing LF with Lourdes in RF)

Lourdes has only recently started to resemble an actual MLB outfielder in left field which is the easiest position to play in the outfield. While he has the cannon arm for the position I cringe at the thought of moving him to a more challenging position.

LF is only easier than RF because of the longer throw to 3B. If Lourdes and his cannon of an arm can play LF, he can play RF.
