I really hope Charlie is a puppet who is just doing what management/analytics team wants him to do like some have said. I just don’t want to believe that the Jays hired somebody this bad.

 

Not sure if that's better or worse. Do you want to believe that management is in support of these moves?

Kirk sat yesterday and Chapman the day before. This is probably just preventative maintenance. All of those guys have injuries in their recent past.

 

A's are a perfect series for early rest to compensate for short ST.

 

Fine I’ll accept it, as long as we’re playing full lineups 100% in September if the division is still up for grabs/within reach. Don’t want to see this s*** down the stretch

Does anyone know wtf is up with these Sunday home games in July with a 12pm start time??

 

I don't ever remember games starting earlier than 1pm and there only seems to be 2 of these in July

Those are exclusive to the Peacock streaming platform. No Peacock in Canada so those are still on Sportsnet.

Huh, just googled it and yeah that’s what’s up. Odd. Says some of their other exclusive games will be starting at 11:30am (not the Jays). That’s pretty damn early lol

I hate how the games exclusive for Apple + we can't watch on MLB.TV! Two games yesterday were Apple + games and couldn't even watch them, let alone any Blue Jay game. Ridiculous!

I hate how many commercials they pump on MLBtv now too. It’s becoming easier and easier to justify sailing the high seas

It sucks. Like 5 years ago we got every game. Then they took the Jays away. Now a bunch of other games are missing.

Probably against the terms of service too, which could allow them to cancel your account and not refund you (I doubt they would though).

I mean nobody buys MLB TV to watch the O’s play the Rays or the Pirates vs the Reds. People buy it so they can watch their favourite team on their phone or stream it at home. MLB is completely out of touch with their fans and now Apple TV + or whatever adds another barrier to entry for fans.

Not sure how they could justify that. People could say they were out of town on business or whatever and using VPN for security purposes.. MLB has no legal authority to check what IP you connected to your VPN service from.

 

They would need to block all VPN server IPs which is certainly possible but bad for business..

I almost got SportsnetNOW or whatever, but they don't yet have Roku compatibility, and all 3 of my TVs are Roku (I've got a firestick and a chromecast, but I'd have to start moving them around to different TVs.).

 

For now, I just use sportsurge.net with Ublock Origin and I have basically no complaints.

 

I'm at the point in my life where I can quite easily pay for the games, but because of stupid ******** it's simply easier for me to use illegal streams.

Yeah, a lot of people cut the cord when there's basically 3 major providers gouging the clientele. It's disgusting here in the North.

Due to TV contracts MLB wants you to buy MLBtv for out of town games and have cable for the local games, and that’s not a smart strategy in today’s climate.

Ryu 2nd half 21 and first 2 starts feels Buehrle ish for me. He put up 8 WAR over 3 seasons. In 14 he was good. Logged a lot of IP, but was pretty much toast at the end.

 

I remember they tried to let get to 200 IP again in 2015 and brought him in in relief. He just couldn't get an out and was left off playoff roster.

Jays have a high performance team and the days off are planned to create max performance probability, and presumably durability.

 

Not PHing Springer for Zimmer in the 6th with 2 on doesn't make sense to me. Springer can get hurt in so many ways, and with a day off tomorrow, was him playing OF 2-3 innings and having 2 PAs that much of a consideration?

 

These games now matter as much as later in the year, and not much point in a healthy Springer if we don't produce enough W's. A hit from George could have buried the A's at that point, and the probability delta of him doing damage over Zimmer is dramatic.

Ya it is. If he is anything close to 20 or 1st half 21 he gives us a much stronger rotation. The guys eats $20mm this year and next, limiting us on other options, so if we can we need to salvage value.
