Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 It's a nice notion... But Charlie will squeeze Grichuk in wherever he can. Can’t wait to see Grichuk at DH while Springer is limping around in the OF
Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Yeah but at 29.5 he's pretty old to fix. Yes, lots of examples of players figuring it out around 30 years old but it's still incredibly rare. And Bird is a guy with zero MLB PA in last two season + he was not great in his AAA year in 2021. So the only issue really is the statement you made about him being one of the most talented hitters on the team. Evidently that ceased being true years ago. In fact, I would say that the last time Greg Bird was statistically interesting was way back in 2015. Every projection system now thinks Greg Bird is a below average hitter BUT he may be able to find the physical capability to be an MLB contributor. A productive platoon hitter would be a great outcome. I 100% agree and should have said that Bird 19 through age 22 was an interesting hitter. Clearly better than Hernandez or Gurriel thorugh age 22, and it would be awesome if that talent showed up at 29. Awesome but very unlikely, because I can think of a few guys who "figured it out" at 29, but am struggling to remember super-injured guys who got magically healthy at 29... maybe I forget them though.

Olerud363 Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 Just scanned Twitter for the latest Blue Jays news 1. Nate Pearson - 2 innings, 4 ks. That's a lot of innings this early for a guy they plan to use in relief. Maybe it will be creative long relief and he gets 100 innings and fills in for injured guys and piggy backs. That would be cool to see. 2. Mike Wilner still wearing a mask - Please no politics. Not political. Just reporting that Wilner is keeping himself safe. 3. Bird opposite field homerun - That was yesterday but just saw the video. Very talented guy.

In the first 4 + weeks they have only 1 off day i am wondering with the short spring training if they will go to some hybrid 6 man rotation for the first month. It would ease guys into it and we can see who can stick.

I could just be it's not that easy to pitch with a sports hernia all year, which he did last year. I'm all for an early 6 man rotation if he has a good spring.
Jimcanuck Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 (edited) I can see a 6 man rotation for much of the season, given Ryu and I am sure there is some caution with Manoah's innings. Edited March 21, 2022 by Jimcanuck

THANOS Old-Timey Member Posted March 21, 2022 Posted March 21, 2022 I wonder why we haven't seen Moreno yet? I don't remember seeing his player photo the other day either.

Marly Rivera @MarlyRiveraESPN Teoscar Hernández’s wrist is feeling much better; will do a full workout today. Hernández did not need an MRI or any additional testing.

Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 GREAT play from Bo right there!
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 Bo is flashing some leather so far this game.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 Springer slipping out of the box like that didn't make me feel great...
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 Noice. This lineup just kicks so much ass.
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 Great ABs from the first 4 batters so far.
Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2022 Posted March 22, 2022 Gurriel being patient and then driving an oppo double in a full count?? Wtf???
Deadpool Old-Timey Member Posted March 22, 2022 Author Posted March 22, 2022 That could have easily been a double in the gap, but a sac fly is a decent consolation prize for Chapman there.
