Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 Merryweather's year folks, you heard it here first.
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 The D-Backs publicly said they aren't moving him. Oh didn’t see that. Last I saw months ago they said they were asking for moon for him kinda thing
connorp Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 Although I have no doubt Chapman is worth + 3 wins for the Jays, he’s very casual unfriendly and I hope everyone realizes Jonn is going to blow up the GDTs in this regard quite often

Jays24 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 Merryweather's year folks, you heard it here first. If he makes it out of spring training without an injury, I'll be shocked. I really hope you're right though, his stuff is NASTY.
Spanky99 Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 If Grichuk gets 400+ at-bats again I think bad things occurred and the Blue Jays didn’t make the playoffs. I can’t picture it. Although I have no doubt Chapman is worth + 3 wins for the Jays, he’s very casual unfriendly and I hope everyone realizes Jonn is going to blow up the GDTs in this regard quite often *shots fired*

He won't. Guaranteed he gets some sort of a muscle strain before the season starts. There will be several injuries though. There always are.

Stangstag Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 nice Hot damn, if Chapman returns to pre-2020 form… Jays have the best lineup in the AL no question

dineke Old-Timey Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 https://www.ncbi.nlm.nih.gov/pmc/articles/PMC6388459/ "However, there was a significant decrease in OPS for nonpitcher controls after the index date compared with before the index date (P = .003). This indicates that hip arthroscopic surgery for FAI may mitigate the career-based performance decline that is typically seen in professional baseball players." I'm dumb so I don't really get this part of the study. There was a significant decrease in OPS for batters but this indicates hip surgery mitigates their decline?

Basically the control group (ones who didn't get surgery but had hip issues) declined significantly. The group that received surgery declined at roughly a normal rate.
Ray Verified Member Posted March 17, 2022 Posted March 17, 2022 I’m reasonably confident that Chapman is going to return to being a 120 OPS+ bat this season and put up a 6 WAR season. There’s your Semien replacement, and he’s controllable for another year.

Chapman will uptick in HRs just going from Oaklands ballpark to the Rogers Center. I'm expecting great things from Chapman who will be on the verge of looking for his life setting payday. I'd love if we could lock him up longterm now.

Why would you want to sign Chapman long-term when he’s almost 30 and we have 2 other potential 3B prospects coming up through the system… and we also have to think about paying Bo and Vlad soon.

After we win the World Series next year and have a windfall of postseason revenue: Guerrero 13 years, $350M Bo 12 years, $320M Teoscar 5 years, $75M Easy. Just did all the hard work for the front office.
