Happy Gorman and Liberatore day! Both guy's have been friends since the age of 5, imagine the odds in them both getting called up on the same day, on the same team... pretty cool.

As a Liberatore owner in the LOD, I'm happy!

He got like a 2 WAR bump from Fangraphs' fielding changes, for 2021. He hit .230 with mediocre production numbers and is currently hitting .240... I can understand why people thought he disappointed last year and currently think he is not playing like a star.

They wanted the .280/30/20 gold glove SS, 6-7 WAR dude

He had four 5-7 fWAR seasons. Would those numbers have been increased on the fielding changes? Or they didn't go back past 21? Any way you shake it he has a career 117 wRC+ and its 121 in 2022. 2021 wasn't great to be sure offensively.

Lmao the Atlantic League is a joke!

Yeah I’m all for diversity of all kinds of it’s based on merit. If there was some freak Ohtani-like girl that could play mlb, that would be an awesome story. This is not that

I bet she could strike both of you out.

She's being given a chance based on grit and mental characteristics, which are probably off the charts.

The article even has a quote "if she can't cut it she'll probably be the first to acknowledge it" so it's implied that if she clearly can't hang the relationship will end.

6 ER in 1 IP so far. Surprised it's not higher after watching these meatballs in a bullpen session.

She could probably strike Bradley Zimmer out though I will give her that

The article states she has 80-grade makeup. Unfortunate for her she's only 5'-7". From what I can find she hits 78-79MPH. I wonder how hard she has tried to learn a knuckleball. She's throwing harder than Tim Wakefield.

This is getting way overplayed. Cool that a woman is playing professional ball but its just a gimmick much like the latest Tim Tebow crap that the media spent so much time reporting on.

I was legit impressed with Tim Tebow. Dude hadn't played baseball in 12 years and hit .273 in AA. I don't care if it was BABIP fueled that's impressive.

I thought it was kind of funny. If she was 6’4 and threw 95mph she’d be a major leaguer. Why not stop there. How about 101mph

Yeah, a little different in those cases as they probably could’ve been drafted originally. So the talent is there, just like Jordan. But at that level you can only be away from it so long

Come on seriously though, how many people knew there were national women baseball teams? Not softball team. Is that commonly known?

Maybe she can hit, but nobody deserves to be on the bump throwing 78 with a ninth grade breaking ball in any pro league.

I didn’t know that. Surprises me since there is no NCAA women’s baseball. I guess they just transition after their playing days.

I guess there’s men who play professional slo pitch so why not have women’s baseball lol

I’m not suggesting there’s anything wrong with it, just that I didn’t know that. Also, I wonder how their shoulders hold up

She may do ok in short stints. Even grass roots baseball sometimes when the worst pitchers comes in, because he’s throwing so much slower, he’ll end up being harder to hit.

this lady has a .400 OBP

what if she's a scrappy little HBP machine who has a good eye and gets on base all the time

and can also eat up an inning or two if your already getting blown out and your bullpen is depleted

give her a chance! you bigots

If Smallgio can make a career of it, why not?

Again, grass roots baseball, there’s some value in that kid who hits last who doesn’t swing enough to take some walks

Neither am I. I’m poking fun at professional slo pitch players haha

I doubt it. Really tough to envision a woman pitching good enough to get outs consistently. Much more likely they can stick around as a 2B/OF who can swing it a bit.

Not sure what the conversion would be but I’d imagine at the D1 level those girls in the box are seeing 85+ so seeing 92 wouldn’t be a massive shock.

People are delusional. There are separate mens and womens leagues for a reason.

Sure let her try, give her a shot at that level and see if she can hang. I just don’t think we need new articles every week talking about this.

He likes to alternate viewpoints so he doesn’t go too far one way. I can respect that even if he’s being silly here

If there’s one sport a female could legit play pro it’s baseball. More specifically 2B or LF.

Hockey - no. Body wouldn’t hold up.

Basketball - no. Not athletic enough to stick.

Football - lol

Baseball - maybe. The barrier to entry is so low. Athleticism is not a prerequisite. Can you hit? You’re in.

Bro. It’d start at the high school level. I don’t even remember hearing of a girl dominating in some Class D baseball league. If they did, it would be a nice national story. It’s never going to happen.

Best bet would be NFL kicker? A long shot but I remember a movie with Kathy Ireland where she was a kicker
