I’ve always sought Odorizzi as a depth SP in fantasy so I could have a little bias but lifetime ERA of 4 and FIP only slightly higher. He’s better than a number 5 I think when he’s healthy, but seems like the latter is a tall order

The other guys were prospects but I didn’t realize how bad Cole Winn was. Thought he was still solid. Leiter I thought would in the mix if he pitches better. Owen White is the other guy

Yeah Odorizzi IMO is more of a No. 5 right now. Still a decent arm for innings and depth.

Dunning could be considered a No. 4 in the rotation. He's still young with some upside so I'll give it to him.

So they probably have four or five No. 3-4 starters in their rotation. Any injuries though especially to deGrom or Heaney or another arm over a long period will definitely hurt.

If dunning or Odorizzi are a 3/4 on your team you’re going to have a real bad time

Dunning probably isn't even in the rotation if everyone is healthy at the end of ST. Out of their home grown arms, at least he has some potential to be decent.

The Rangers have gotten way better, they have to be in WC contention right now. I don't get those that say they stink, they don't. How they got here is dumn, but c'mon.

Just looked him up and his profile isn't what I expected. I thought I remembered him as a fastball-slider guy with mid-90s heat, but he sat 89 last year.

Yeah they will be in WC contention if they stay healthy. Like you said, I think it's more with the way they got there like spending hundreds of millions on contracts over the past two years which is at the back of everyone minds.

I hope Texas wins the division now just bc you’re such a wet blanket

Rangers' rotation does not inspire a lot of confidence but they do have enough arms, I think. But my brain says take the under on most of their arms, especially Martin Perez.

That division is closer than people realize. It's close to a 4 team race.

Projected WAR:

Astros 48.3

M's 43.6

Rangers 42.2

Angels 40.6

~6 win gap is nothing, in projected WAR. That's one Kyle Tucker injury from being a 1 win gap.

AA would’ve had Bo, Vladdy and Manoah locked up to team friendly deals by now but we’ll lose 2/3 to free agency instead. That’s the sweet spot of risk folks

Maybe that’s fine.

I hope we trade in their final year the 2 we're planning to let go for prospects, so the casual fans freak right out.

I'm not sure any GM could have locked of Vlad and Bo on any sort of discount

Bo and Vlad are not apples and apples compared to Acuna and others AA has offered long term security to.

I have said this before and it needs to be said again. Both, Vlad and Bo are pro player kids. They grew up wealthy and have no financial worries.

Much different then some kid off the island who knows that if they get hurt or suck they might never have a chance to have generational wealth in their family so they take security over risk.

Not just that they have money, but their dads know the business. They won't let their kids get one red cent less than they feel they're worth.

I'm shocked the Rays are ranked 5th. Ahead of both the Astros and Jays in the AL.

Until they lose, it's hard to argue with the 'put team together with chewing gum and duct tape' method.

Seems like whenever people are down on the Rays they have their best season. Writers aren’t falling for that s*** anymore.

It's like they don't know we traded Moreno for Varsho lol.

I checked the date of the article to see if it was before the trade... nope lol

I don’t think this factors the Varsho trade, but also Tampa still seems too high

Yeah Wilko pointed out doesn't factor the Varsho trade. They should be higher IMO.

I love the Rays pitching staff, but they don't have the bats IMO to be a Top 5 team. I would drop them to 8th or 9th.

Astros should be in the Top 5 IMO. I still think they're the team to beat in the AL, though for sure a lot of AL West teams did close the gap on them.

It's pathetic that the Rays didn't address their offense this offseason. They desperately need an impact bat.
